ronnie with a smile, do'n my best to stay far from the middle..
I think W.E.B. DuBois and Someone I can't remember (Frederick Douglas maybe?) had this debate about a hundred years ago. Accordingly, learning would be reserved for those with lots of cash (entitling them to hold better positions in the workplace), while the poor were equipped to be good worker types. Problem is education for employment disregards the realities of the workplace. Most folks have 5-10 different jobs, low skilled jobs get outsourced or replaced by robots. Don't associate work ethic with competences. There are lots of hard working liberal arts majors just like there are plenty of lazy assed tradesmen.
P.S.- I love vocational education in the K-12 system, but there are a crap load of voc ed folks going back to college cause their careers in a trade were ended when the trade left for China.

Oh yeah, we should also include the role of education in preparing citizens to participate in a democracy...

I got this evil mother pulled last week and was feeling great about it until I saw what the guy above paid. Now I feel like I should have shopped around. IMG_1668 a.jpg
Preface: this is not a shot at any of the grumps in this thread.
People complaining about things they have complete control over but refuse to take action on.
Example: Person bitching to Myerson on twitter about the fact he (Myerson) still brings up getting relegated when he (person) could just block/unfollow.
I had a grump about being sick (a flu bug), but close friends and distant friends going through much worse brought it into perspective.
Take care everyone and whatever your grump is, i hope it's as minor as mine.

Planning to do the cyclosportive race in Aix this week-end, for once I am around (missed it twice). Forecast is now rain and wind. Ordered a Gabba jersey.
I have to teach an 8 hour MSHA ART class today... Starts at 7 am, leaving now.
How the heck did we get to Thursday already...
Should I be grumpy that all the days blur into one or un-grumpy that I like my job and life enough that it doesn't really matter? Lets go with un-grumpy and a few push-ups.
Grump on VS brothers!!!
I'm missing some tubes. I went to miter and weld the stays on a bike this am that is a little different than my normal thing and the stays I wanted to used, that I thought I had, were not where they should be. It's got me grumpy. I wanted to paint the thing this weekend. Ugh.
Kicked a soccer ball around on Sunday, and like I always do, I kicked harder than my muscles/skeleton were good for. Ankle is out of whack.
Hate my company, despite the unlimited vacation, working from home, and generous pay. This company is seriously dysfunctional. Being in a customer facing role leaves me embarrassed 90% of the time and proud less than 5% of the time.
I'm fatigued from riding too much this week already.
Insubordinate. And Churlish.
Before you say you don't like it, stop to consider that maybe it isn't for you.
Got some cash

The heat in our building came on this morning.
