The Tweet of God: I have to help Canada at hockey because it's all they have up there besides civility and poutine.

What happened to the Olympics? Every time I turn it on today NBC has some kind of soap opera story going on.
When does the NBA season start?
I'm 100% sure that a group of bean counters at NBC decided that it's worth the big DollarBucks required to pay for exclusive rights to the Olympics, only to prevent other sources from covering the games.
If you blackout nearly every other source, it doesn't matter how horrific and commercial filled / crap-reality-tv your coverage is if NOBODY else can provide ANY competition/coverage.

I loathe professional basketbal, I was hoping the olympic would bridge the gap between Football ending / NCAA Final Four / Auto Racing-Baseball season starting. It's a challenge to have something to talk about this time of year when most of my co-workers consume 99% of their daily "information" from ESPN or FOXNEWS.

OT; Sorry Vsalon, something funky happened within the bizarre realm of cellphone typing....Basic opinions still stand, but are not stated eloquently.
Holy crap 4 AM is early. Where the hell are the chicken wings?
Despite my NBC/Comcast kvetching I am always excited about the Olympics. Cheers to crosscountryski.us for the coverage.
As a fan I think it's past time to move to a short list of dedicated venues for winter and summer games. Aside from pocket lining for networks, IOC leeches and construction companies I don't see how the current start from zero > overspend > abandon routine works for anyone.

Dear US athletes, put down your damn phones.
Now that the super advertising event with 1100 televised hours and 5500 minutes of commericals (colloquially known as the winter olympics) is over can we get serious with the 125 hours and 600 minutes of commercials colloquially referred to as March Madness. . . Is ultra marathon TV viewing a sport? The u.s. owns the podium.
The USA really gets shafted on Olympic coverage. Next games set up a VPN with Canadian IP and see great coverage of ALL the games online.
With CBC everything got a live feed online, say for skiing or bobsled every qualifying fun even down to the guy that is 20 minutes behind gets aired. Some events it's literally just the live feed with no audio bs, just pure sport. It's great to have the choice of live webcast without the bs or the "daily coverage" show that has all the touchy feely athlete profiles.
Seems our country is most stoked on the fact we won both men's and women's hockey and curling. I'am stoked we cleaned house in moguls skiing with 4 out of the 6, perhaps next Olympics we'll clean sweep all 6.
