"Please send me a bunch of information about your important and high profile project. The boss is coming to visit our site and even though I don't know this project and have nothing to do with it, I need to tell him some things to appear smart and useful. I need this by COB today".

p.s. coffeeline - I've come to the point of simply telling people that they are in the way and need to move. If said kindly but authoritatively it often works with no issues or hard feelings. I think many people are simply oblivious and not poorly intentioned. Even if I'm wrong on that as long as they move I don't care. Dropping....
Do not run in the dark, in the street, in dark clothing. You scared the shit out of me and almost caused me to swerve into oncoming traffic. While I wish ill upon no one, you're kind of asking to get hit by a car dumbass.
This pathetic sham of a winter. And my work obligations happening to get in the way of exploiting what brief periods of good skiing we've had.
Me, who moved to a home last summer that's adjacent to a MUT that takes me all the way to the office, that gives me a bike commute that's a shorter distance than driving, and then spending more money on a car than I ever have before, which I then drive the long way to/from work every day to make sure I'm not doing any damage by not getting the oil up to temperature on a regular basis. The last time I rode the bike to work was August.
religious zealots
I'm doing 20 more push-ups to tell you that if it bothers you I'm sorry about that, I guess. Know that it wasn't done with any malice intended to you, Jesus, or anyone else. I used to be you so I sort of get it. That said, I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish but my PM box works if you want to talk more.
Also, it's not a little point, it's a big deal.
My grump are people getting excited over use of a name of someone who even if he existed has been dead almost 2,000 years now. Sheesh, doesn't Fox have a forum?
Guys - I have no dog in this fight - I'm not religious whatsoever. I'm completely apolitical and don't give a shit about anything but my family, job, and bicycles in that order. To the limited extent I have cogent thoughts about anything else, I could be described as socially liberal but fiscally conservative. Now to my point and eventual grump.
Boxerboxer and Matthew J, you need to have a little internal consistency to be credible. You can't be consider yourself to be inclusive and enlightened but simultaneously bash "old white dudes", question the foundations of other's religions and throw around the name of a religious figure in a way that offends large groups of people. That's just as offensive as what you're condemning. I have no problem with informed, consistent liberal viewpoints and hold them myself on many issues. But you can't respect everyone EXCEPT old white dudes and religious Christians while simultaneously considering yourself to be tolerant and enlightened. It's inherently paradoxical.
So my grump for the week:the cognitive dissonance and general smarminess of intolerant uninformed liberalism.
This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the bike.
GO!
After moving literally a ton of shop equipment last weekend, rollaways, a mill, lathe, frame fixture and all the other crap without incident I go and pull a muscle in my calf by pushing the empty trailer in the driveway.
It's consistent with a grade 1 calf sprain, according to some quick research. Looks like I should expect a 2 week recovery time, but my shop is moved, my build cue caught up, the weather forecast promising and I just glued a brand new pair of Michelin Pro 4 tubulars on my road bike.
The swelling is dropping down to my ankle, it is all bruised and looks like a fat guy's cankle.

In Before the Lock
I got a job offer for the only company I'd really like to work for in a place that I'd really love to live but there's no way the family will sign off and I can't afford to buy a house there anyhow. If only it were ten years ago.

Tomorrow at 5:15 our veterinarian will come to our house to give a sweet little dog a shot that will make her go to sleep forever. She's very old, and very frail and in pain and it is time, but being the right thing to do doesn't make it any easier.
People who call in sick when they're not and put a strain on everyone else.
Asinine government rules that force us to contract with small businesses who can't deliver. For two years, I've had three different contracts with small business vendors who couldn't deliver. The result is we work short staffed, patient care suffers.
I understand why the laws favor small businesses, it sort of makes sense in theory, but in practice, its no way to run a hospital.
I love that certain threads seem to have a grandfather clause. Cause this one would have been closed one hundred times over.

filling out an annual performance review that has a bunch of abstract questions that do nothing to show my strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes as they relate to work. how about this? pay attention to your employees. when we are making customers really happy despite a product that is severely deficient, listen to what we have to say in order to make the product better. focus on having a great product so customers stop leaving and instead new customers will want to join in.
