Not exactly sure how the cable stop or lever boss will be attached to the frame. But if they only bolt down against the frame with a simple water bottle like boss (and not a classic lever boss with a square base) I would worry about the stops or lever starting to rotate on the frame from the forces. Do you have an installed photo so I can have a better understanding? Andy.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you taking a single speed bike and putting a crank set on it? I'm with Andy on what he was wondering abut also. If "yes" to the first question its been done before.

I like simply using removable modular housing guides on bottle bosses.

it uses a slightly deeper bottle boss.It doesn't rotate due to the curvature of the adapter. the shimano downtube attachment is available curved or flat.so that's not going anywhere.
It's for frames I already have in stock, so a shop can limit their stock and offer several options. & hopefully I can move some of them.
plus I never liked singlespeed convertions on old frames with the lever bosses sticking out.

Curt Goodrich built a Rivendell frame that had a removable left-side shifter boss because the customer was mostly going to run the bike with one chainring. I can't find any pictures of it, unfortunately.

thanks I was sure it wasn't new. I probably saw something similar somewhere, forgot about it then imagined I't come up with it when I remembered.
