Default Frames #1 and #2 and a Thank You

Hello everyone, my name is Nick and I am a bike mechanic by trade but after going to NAHBS in Sacramento, all I could think about was building a frame and now I am hooked. I thought I would share my first two frames and offer a warm thanks to everyone on this forum for taking the time to help others and answer questions.

This is my first frame. It was built with an inexpensive Nova OS kit with sloping top tube. I didn't get too many process pictures and they were all a little embarrassing before cleanup but I guess that is how it goes. Powdercoated orange because "why not?"

I put 1800 miles on this frame while I was building Frame #2. For frame #2 I went with Columbus Life OOS tubing and Nova lugs. It turned out that the HT/DT angle wasn't working with the lugs so I fillet brazed it instead. I also went with vertical dropouts, horizontal top tube and a much nicer seat cluster. Powdercoated Jollipop Purple.

The powder ended up being a little thick and I need to do something about the seatpost shim eventually but overall this frame turned out much better but I already have a list of stuff I want to change on the next frame. Thanks for looking and thanks for making this the most awesome forum on the net.

@e-RICHIE Thank you sir, your contributions on this forum have helped fuel my desire to build frames and always strive to be better.

@alexstar Thanks! I grew up by St Josephs Notre Dame and I live close to there still. My shop is in my old bedroom turned woodshop turned metal/wood shop. So far I just have a vice, workbench, a few hand tools and my torch setup.
