i'm tired of social one upsmanship. its like all conversation is cocaine induced these days ie: i'm not listening to what yer saying, i'm waiting for you to be done talking so i can talk and make bigger one part of something you said. everything is epic, superlative, not just better but best.

i rode my bike ystrdy. i rode alpe d'huez w/greg lemond.
the accountant i went to really helped me out on my taxes. i use larry ellison's accountant, he's a fucking genius.

Larry Craig joke! I went to law school with someone that worked in his office at the time. I bet that was interesting....

Another grump -- there are only two cannibal corpse albums on Spotify, and both suck. And I've only got one on my iTunes.

People who call themselves analysts and cannot find a common thread among several requirements.

How can one be an analyst without analytical skills?

I just waisted an hour explaining the common thread of several requirements to someone, when I could have been on V-Salon.....

I saw them live once. The pit was insane. Staff had to drag six guys out in headlocks throughout the show. They're here next week, I might have to make that happen.

In Brown Town Hardleys are ne plus ultra; guys routinely drop 30k into hot rodding them.

An analyst is a guy who figures out where the brain trust is, picks it, then takes credit for it. Synonym: consultant.

Very mild grump, more laughable than anything: guy threatens you for riding your bicycle on the sidewalk.
Course of action: ride away, but generally speaking it's a very good idea to treat everyone as if they are packing heat in this town.

So one day i was online buying something and the "check out with paypal" button appears. i hit it, click-clak- BAM, shit is in the mail.

It was a beautifully simple and painless thing: No repetitive boring fucking newletter signup box to untick boxes and information to fill out. Paypal already has all of that, and they hand it to the retailer and no numbers to fuck with. click click DONE, wonderful right? (one does have to log in to Paypal-which is ultra simple for me.)

Then i go to buy some more gloves from Rivendell. See the "checkout with Paypal" button. STILL HAD TO FILL OUT FUCKING FORMS at RivBike. Dammitohell.

what's the point? I much prefer being a "cash customer, here's your money-address is attached", I'm GONE dealio.

Dave at Rivbike don't know either. Quick somebody link me to a retail site with the EASY and DONE paypal setup. I want to share with Dave at Rivbike, before he forgets the incident.

I like welding steel and stainless, I'm not a big fan of welding aluminum. I work in the military dept of an aircraft component manufacturer/repair facility. 90% of the military stuff is stainless/inconel, but when we're slow we take overflow from the commercial side and most of that is aluminum. So I'm stuck in this quandary, because while I like building the military parts, I hate the fact that business is good when the US is bombing the shit out of someone and slow when we're not.
I jumped at this job when I got it, but as time goes on it is actually starting to weigh on my conscience. Way back when, my dad did a lot of military contract work, designing many of the weapons systems that have been in service for the last 30 years. One day he just stopped taking those jobs and said he didn't want to build "weapons of war" any more. When I was a kid, tanks and fighter planes are cool and you don't know any different. You don't understand the business end of that stuff. Now I understand, and everyone hates it when their parents were right.

I am hopefully going to make a change in my state of residence in the next couple of years, so I can find something else to build.

Doing my 20 as I type this. I recently gave up a chance at a job that technically would have been an excellent career move with a uni degree paid for etc. and a move to a town with an insane amount of quality trail riding, for the same reason. I knew that designing and building war machines would make me unhappy in the end.

Actually, this is more of a Grump 180. Last thursday I received a diagnosis of Morton's Neuroma on my right foot and the 1st of 7 shots intended to numb/kill the nerve. Couple casual conversations and a 2nd opinion later, the diagnosis has been refined to be that of Metatarsalgia that can be resolved with a pair of custom orthotics. Let the healing begin....

I'm no expert on Anthony Foxx's qualifications, but apparently he did some good things for transportation in the Charlotte area. For the vast majority of Americans "transportation" means the time they spend commuting in their cars, and for that he's probably a good choice.

Man is a warlike animal. Wm S. Burroughs, methinks-from memory.

Dude, man has been killing other men always and probably evermore. Nothing you do will change that. That's what sucks the most. But absolutely do what allows you to sleep better. Absolutely.
