The abarth 500 is what we call a hairdresser's car in europe.
If you really want it, you need at least 275hp from one of those germans tuners (g-tech, hamann). Expect some torque steer.

But really, I'd suggest you to be decadent and buy an old rolls royce or bentley. I'd choose the turbo R.
Who cares about mpg when the commute is only 2.1 miles.
