Default Mission to the edge of space

Felix Baumgartner attempting to become the first person to break the sound barrier (w/o aircraft) and hold the record for the highest altitude skydive.

    Insanity happening now.

I'm waiting...waiting...staring at the sky...don't they have any cute Red Bull girls out there I can look at? Nobody doing burnouts?

Countdown stopped again.. Don't you get the sneaking feeling that this just isn't going to ever happen? Props to the guy, tho..he's got Jump Cred out the wazoo.

I hope they can complete the "mission" tomorrow. I just read this morning that Red Bull has invested EUR 50 Mio in this project. I will assign a little project to my Marketing students to calculate (roughly) the value (in EUR or USD) of the media exposure Red Bull gets with the Stratos project. Just the rough estimation I made on a piece of paper tells me that EUR 59 Mio is a bargain.

    Very clever Red Bull.

Yeah they already got their $'s worth of publicity, etc... Have you read the tolerances for the ascent ballon? I'm no meteorologist, but I cannot imagine atmospheric conditions ever meeting that criteria..or being that predictable.

Nearly 4.5 million people tuned in to see this guy die. He gave them the finger without even having to do so. Kids and I were on edge when he was spinning.

Watching him shuffle to the edge of his seat and then slip quietly off the edge, sent a chill down my spine. Fair play to the guy.

This isn't really that cool.....untill you see the video, and realize he was so high up he wasn't above the ground anymore, he was above the planet.

Can't wait to see the Redbull advertisements that come from this. And his on-board footage!
