    Default cincinatti?

going ot cincinatti in the AM. Locals, what to do. I am pretty familiar with the city, although i havent been in a few years. I will have a bike in tow, truck for navigation, and a willingness to be far from home, lost, scared and crying. What say ye! I will be there until sunday.

I'd make a stop at Oakley Cycles.... Serious Serotta dealer, I bought a Peg frame from them a while back.... Very nice people....

food & drinks - any of the new places in the gateway quarter of Over the Rhine (12th & Vine st). Senate, A Tavola, Bakersfield, Taste of Belgium are all worth a try
bike stuff - visit the Reser shop in Newport, awesome guys, O
if you have time for a ride, route 8 in NKY is a nice rolling ride. I tend to ride it west of Covington pretty much until the road ends, then back into the city

Eating at Skyline Chili is a must. There are a lot of them around so should be easy to find.
First thing I do when I go back to visit the folks.

    Find a ride here.

After going to Oakley Cycles, down the street is Element Bicycle Studio.
You are then near Aglamesis, ice cream, Italian ice and one of the few places west of Alleghenies

Marx is hardly commie, the owner is a hard right Christian BUT he makes the best bagels in town.

Are you bringing a road or mountain bike and where are you staying? If you're close to the West Side you could hook up with Judi formerly of Drunk Cyclist. If you're to the East there's Smittyscyclery.com or Swallowbicycleworks.com who should steer you in the right direction. Honey in Northside is fantastic and if you need a non chain burrito the Comet up the street from them will hook you up.

    I am a Cincinnati expert.

Riding: if you're downtown, go over the river into KY and head westbound on Rt. 8 and explore the hills by the airport. I would recommend eastbound where it gets really wild, but I still get lost over there. The west side, where I grew up and lived until I moved away a few years back, is truly an amazing place to ride. Shit, all of the Cincinnati greater area is good riding, with the exception of the northern bits (West Chester and the like).

Eating: Skyline and Graeter's. I'm a three-coney man, if you must know. If you want to get fancyish and check out the downtown resurgence, go on to Vine and Main St., get pizza at A Tavola or a drink at the Moerlein house. Walk by the river and revel in the beauty.

Culture: CAC or the Art Museum. Both serve up challenging exhibitions. If you like music, go to Shake It! in Northside. Their selection of vinyl and CDS is probably among the best in this nation.

REPORT: Stardate-Sunday, July 2:: So, am riding out route 8, which seems to be a good ride, especially so close to the city. A nice 104 on the thermometer, sun barrelling down. Then 3 minutes later WTF, a deluge of wind, rain, and hail. Holy shat! That was a good ride.

I did notice plenty of beer. OTR seemed to make some a pretty good IPA. Took my wife to Campanellos, pretty good traditional Italian. Drinks at A Tavola. Had good food, got some decent riding in. There was a huge NASCAR event somewhere in KY, crowded. Although, this week is the world choir championship.

NOW: Cincinatti chili, exactly whats the deal? Aside from looking like a plate of already pre-defecated grub, whats the plan. Dont get me wrong, it was good. Really wet, meat only chili. Is there typically cinnamon in there. I tried it a few times, as a taste only, to meaty for my deal.. I need to do some research.

Cincy, i feel like i can call it that having been local for 5 days, a good solid place to go. I really dug the architecture, not so much the Union workers, but thats a different story.
