I would love to see Greece beat Germany, but I think Germany will go ahead and destroy the Greek banking system instead.

I'd like the Czechs to win, the Italians and the Spanish. But I can't say whether I really think any of that is going to happen. Feels like sort of a toss up.

That was a pretty goal by Ronaldo, and man those white Portugal jerseys were classy.

Yeah, I almost expected to see them all hop into a fleet of Lamborghinis at the end of the match.

The match was like watching a boa constrictor squeeze its prey. A little tighter. A little tighter. Goal!

Oh well. On to the symbolic battle of the financial future of the EU.

How did I miss this thread, thanks for starting it. Today with Greece, I think you will see them sit in for 90 minutes and hope to score on a re-start. And they may, just may, pull it off. But I think they are much weaker than they used to be. And just for fun, I'd like to see them do it. The Germans have gotten cocky.

Anyone else read the name on the back of Germany's goalie's jersey as NEVER when NEUER raises his arms to celebrate a goal?

Never would be a sweet name for a goalie

Geez well, so much for the Greek fantasies. Merkel wins.

Germany looks balanced damn that Lahm is short. I just checked he's 5' 7" he looked like a mini me out there.

Spain is going to have to put the ball in the net against Germany that's for sure - it will be interesting to see how Germany handles Spain's possession should the two squads face each other.

Looking forward to Spain-France tomorrow ...

5'7"? I think they are just being generous, trying to make him bigger than he is. I think Spain will handle france tomorrow, but I guess I was wrong about Greece showing up to play.

Political football, Euro style... Greek game plan made the Germany look like Spain.

Funny headline in Spain this morning that Germany basically "governed" Greece in yesterday's match.

About 3 hours to Spain-France as usual Del Bosque is hush on his lineup beforehand.

I just read that Spain has never defeated France in an official match in either the Euro or World Cup. Spain has accumulated 3 losses and one tie against France. Wow.

    That's an awesome headline.

So let's pick some predictions for the game today. I say spain ends the streak of loses and wins 3-1, one of their goals will be a PK.

Yeah, I'll go with Spain. But I wouldn't be surprised if this ends in the first penalty kick win of the round.

That was such a pretty goal: picture perfect cross punctuated by Alonso's header

The hard bouncing header must be so hard to defend for goalies.

Did anybody else want to bitch slap the two French players who substituted in the second half yesterday with their collars turned up?
