The Wire is my favorite show ever made. Got me through last winter while on the trainer, I'd watch an episode or two every session.

The only way to ensure even fewer people watch the show? Actually if the venue is large enough (600 or so seats) they may blow their Neilsens out of the water.

Also by far my favorite show ever. The Corner, which it was based on, is very good, too, if you've not seen it. Grim but good.

I loved the series.

It's definitely a lampoon of contemporary musical theater and over the top for comic effect. Yet it's not that hard to imagine it being real. I'd go see it for the inside references that would be lost on most people and the intentional terribleness in equal measures.
