Where in NYC? So long as you avoid Times Square--NYE in Times Square is amateur night (unless you go to B.B. King's to see Chuck Berry), rivaled only by St. Patrick's Day--most anywhere else in Manhattan or Brooklyn will be good.
I'm going to be staying home with my wife, watching the Twilight Zone marathon, sipping 2006 vintage champagne and quietly celebrating the arrival of the new year.
Patti Smith's annual NYE run at Bowery Ballroom is sold out (duh). If I can sneak in through my connectch (we'll call it 50-50), I may have to meet you guys in the early, ditch, and rejoin in the early hours of the New Year.
Got some cash
Bought some wheels
Took it out
'Cross the fields
Lost Control
Hit a wall
But we're alright
jon-
i leave all those details to chase. he's got the hookups.
im back in town thursday. lets touch base.
surely someone here must be doing something entertaining. details details details.
Pray Chase's connection comes thru with Patti Smith tix. You won't find many better ways to spend the evening.
I am planning to ride into the new year. A friend and I are doing a Metric Century in doors to ring in the new year. Then I will party
gona have some friends over, then later kick back think about the good times and smiles i have maintained corner stoned from that cold night at the pub in richmond va when ronnie, in person, attached to a band of brothers...
then:
might just light up a "por larranaga," pour me a "bacardi 8" and read the december 1999 cigar aficionado...
to you my friends --- thank you for the memories,
ronnie
What? Nobody else is working?
Working? I'll raise a glass to you friend.
Party over here with 20'ish or so good friends who love to eat drink and laugh. Sis and hubby are in town from Paris, I just like to say that, so I've got the ultimate Sous Chef. CPG you envious? Admit it man, you know you are but I'm SURE you've got something simmering.
I don't drink much but every New Years Eve it's my duty to send a few brain cells to their demise. This yrs indulgence will be the last of some amazing vintage french champagne I've been uncorking for last 10 yrs., and Good VERY good American Bourbon. Food food food, I'll have to ride a dozen centuries before I'm back to even. Oh the things I do in the name of gluttony.

Vsalon Fromage De Tête
saturday i plan to hoof it out to this beach (takes about 45 mins) and huck my carcass into the ocean and try to catch a wave or 2 longboard style . the hardest part of course will be getting in and out of my wetsuit which is akin to obscene calisthenics. if the waves are too big i'll be sipping from a flask on the beach taking it all in. come home, thaw out. sat eve i'll puff some crazy strong ass weed and walk into town to meet some friends and listen to my buddy play at a local bar. if i can stop laughing long enough i might get a beer or 2 down.
you're not the lord of the flies
I might do the annual CRCA Jan. 1 ride to Bear Mtn and back, so my plans are to go to sleep, I think.
Party at my place for any Philly Salonistas who may wish to stop by. Parade w. champagne bottles up South St. to Penn's Landing for the fireworks commences at 11:45.
Just taking the wife to Grand Superior Lodge (on Lake Superior) for a special NYE dinner and then out to their ice bar for fried oysters and vodka shots to close out the evening. Then trying to make it back to the house without hitting a moose in the dark.
On call so no booze for me, plus we will probably be asleep long before midnight. Talk about lame...
Wife and I stopped going out for NYE a couple years ago. Because of the way the day falls this year I am really looking forward to this weekend.
Lamb shoulder tomorrow night. Indian takeout Saturday with wine and growlers of half acre
Sunday is big green egg day and the Giants at night.
Monday, chili and college bowl games. Expect an open house and 5-15 people in and out both sun and mon.
Trps on tap to the butcher, brewery, etc. too bad there's no candlestick maker nearby...
Bike rides all 3 days. One long road ride, one rail trail ride, and one tbd.
my name is Matt
