Anyone been to Granada, Spain?
I'm off for a family (non-cycling) holiday in Granada this Friday. I've read a bunch of guide books, but if anyone has been there, I'm open to suggestions for:
-Tapas bar
-Flamenco bar
-bar with a good local vibe (whatever that is in Granada) but where a middle-aged couple with teenage daughters isn't going to get beer poured on them
-cool bike store

Re: Anyone been to Granada, Spain?
I visited Grenada about 6 years ago. If you're reading guide books, you already know about Alhambra. It is truly amazing and well worth the visit.
Unfortunately, I can't recall where or what I ate & drank, and I didn't visit any bike shops either. Most bike shops in Europe are very utilitarian, ie, they sell and service heavy, clunky city bikes. Finding a good pro shop is next to impossible in most cities. So unless you know where a great shop is, your time is better spent on other endeavors.

Re: Anyone been to Granada, Spain?
Thanks for the reply. The Alhambra is the reason we are going there.
We'll find something for sure there. Usually I find that guide books are very poor at selecting good local eating/drinking places. Last time I was in Paris, my wife and I were eating in what was supposed to be be a small local haunt but all the tables were occupied by fellow Canadians. We had all read the same guidebook!

Re: Anyone been to Granada, Spain?
I had one of the best dinners of my life there. If you see a restaurant up by the alhambra that overlooks the city and has a huge wooden door and appears to be closed for a private party, just knock on the door. We did, they let us in and showed us to a table in an empty room on the balcony overlooking the city and brought us all kinds of incredibly delicious food while the wedding feast went on downstairs.... I wish I could remember the name of the place.
