    Default Paragon Rockers......??????

    when they are all the way forward the bolts on the BB7's are inaccessable {*IF* I can make the seat stays even clear them - tomorrow will tell} when it's all the way bach the entry point for the cable points directly at the chainstay {fuck!}
With a hydro unit it looks like if you yank it all the way back it's going to kink the hydro tube or tear out the olive/banjo fitting against the CS.
    Anybody? - Garro.

you mean to say "If it works" - I'll keep you posted. I can see some drawbacks to this system becoming apparent...... Why do one speeds need to be so involved? Didn't the current generation own BMX bikes with Horizontals? - Garro.

As soon as the engineering on my elastic chain is complete I will create tension in the singlespeed framebuilding community.

Bummer, I think you and Tony P have the right idea with horizontals and a mount that lets the caliper stay in one place....use a bolt on axle and the setup will be rock solid and simple!
I know Walt has used the rockers and seemed to be ok with them http://waltworks.blogspot.com/2011/0...-rockers.html- although I think he was reserving final judgement until they were ridden for awhile

Update: seatstays are on. This may very well be the only pair of these I use, if not they are going to have a *Big* PITA tax........Some notes, since I'm working on them right now, as in RIGHT NOW:
I think they totally ruined the lines of this gorgeous bike. I'll post pics after de-fluxing tomorrow & let you guys judge. It's all smooth & curvy with a huge chunk of metal attached.
They are TIGHT brazing - the spearpoint nestles right up to the Al. rocker piece - You may {I bet} have to buy a pair of "dummy" plates.
Price 'em high - you will be dumping more then a full brass rod's worth of Ag. alloy of your choice into them.
The back seatstay tab would be nice higher, and rounded.
It would be nice to rotate them farther forward, but there are "guides" on the CS tab - you *could * file them off, but a bigger rounded tab would be OK.
The 16" C-to-C frame I'm buiding with 6.3cm of drop is as small as you can go with BB7 brakes unless you do some wierd SS bending like an arc, or bring the SS's inti the ST above the top of the TT which I think is fugly, IMO.
Pics to come of the anchor nut accessability & the cable mount on the disc pointing into the CS. - Garro.

here are some clearance pics. the clearance from the bold head to the bottom of the SS is 2.5mm - I threaded the needle for allen adjustment - check it out.

I don't like how the housing spigot points at the CS.

They are the stiffest dropout I have ever seen.

    On a frame < 16" C-to-C w/6.3cm BB drop I'd spec a 14cm rear rotor.

the rearward weight bias is noticable.

I have a couple bikes with horizontal dropouts and a slotted (Pacenti) disc mount. Not a big fan. It's more cumbersome and time consuming to deal with if you need to remove the wheel. Also it relies on a solid bolt on axle connection to keep the wheel from moving (or a chain tensioner), where a Paragon dropout will allow the use of a QR hub and have a faster/easier wheel change. I was thinking of doing a regular disc mount with a short horizontal dropout (sorta like the Wolfhoud pic you posted). I looked at the Shimano book and they give a spec for that setup for BMX. If the angle of the dropout slot to brake mounting points is small enough you can take the wheel out the back without removing the disc caliper. This won't work on a bike with an adult sized seat tube, unless an odd dropout is made that allows the seat stay to reach the dropout at any angle needed, and ahead of the disc mount. So, I put that idea back on the shelf. I've also thought about TIGing the Paragon dropouts, partially to get more room. Or adding a rounded cap/hood to the ends so they attach like a Breezer or Salsa or Wright Bro.s style dropout would. It seems to me that you'd want to Tig those parts together, then you could fill in with Brass for aesthetics, and you could TIG or brass braze to the hood (unless you used stainless).
Perhaps futher offsetting the SS to the outside of the tab would provide more room.
    Cheers,
    John

I'll post some pics of my last build where I used Rockers in a bit. I built the frame up with XTR Trail brakes without issue and I race SS so my gearing constantly changes but I also run my line under the seat stays so this might address the probem. I'm a huge fan of Todd's BC's but like the more refined look of the rockers when a is said and done. My only complaint on the rockers is the lack of a tensioning system. Also, I've had bot clearance issues with the low mounts and small/compact frames. -Chris

Excuse the poor image quality and the fact that I'm riding an unfinished frame (not referring to the paint or lack of). The cable gets a little bunched in the forward position but I can easily pull this forward to the levers and all is good. Hopes this helps Steve, they're really nice dropouts but they do make the frame look longer because of the chain stay tab position... but once I got used to the look, I liked it.
