I'm getting a little aggravated trying to be efficient making my little spoke and wheels-building order from my short list of suppliers.

Seems that no one can possibly have the spoke I want, and also the other little items at the same time. Hate to have to make stupid small orders to get each part/piece, and don't have the funds to "stock up" on anything.

Is it always going to be this way _or_ is/are there one or two companies who keep a better inventory of such things?

Spokes are flippin ordered, but need some axle parts for a repair and want a spokey for my bench, also some washers for these re-run hubs I'm about to use.

QBP almost always have my needs in stock and only 1 day away by UPS.

If you are not yet in a position to work with them, perhaps an arrangement with a local shop as a "professional courtesey" can be arranged?

yo I've got to work on my BTI application and the Q as well. Hawley and Downeast are my biggest folks right now. Downeast is about as far away as one can get from me and yet be East of the River.

paperwork will never be my strong point.

And the shop who has already offered such is not someone I want to depend upon (details omitted) the other shop is too busy to bother(special order has _never_ been good there, even at retail, but--he does ream my headtubes.

Assuming you don't want to pop for a spoke roller/cutter you can buy spokes from Alchemy in singles. Good folks, easy to work with and you don't get stuck sitting on spokes for years.

It'd be different if the LBS wasn't thirty miles away...shipping from Maine is cheaper than driving down there and back.

for a one man low budget inventory pick either odd or even sizing and stock your favorite style of spoke in the most used sizes fill in as needed or every other order

I strongly recommend Sarah and Jeremy at Alchemy Bicycle Works for spokes and some rims. (AlchemyBicycleWorks)

They're excellent to deal with, carry Sapim, Wheelsmith and Kinlin, offer wholesale pricing to framebuilders, and generally ship same-day via USPS Priority Mail.

I've had nothing but excellent service from them.

Velocity is great to work with as well; call and speak to Matt Ruiter.

For hubs SBA carries Campy, Shimano and Chris King.
