again - one game ii won't play is "how small can i make the box to save shipping costs?".
I don't know what more we can tell you Richie. If getting it in a smaller box is out of the question either due to size restraints or boxing minimum standards then you will pay 5 bills. It is that simple.

Is this a place you may want to visit? I have made a few trips and delivered frames in person because the 500 paid for half my ticket and I got to see a really cool place with a built in guide. Other than that your options are that you got no options ATMO.

i use fedex and wanna know if you've found alternatives.
usps international priority is not an option owing to dimensions.
i was hopeful someone had a competitive source for 109" and over parcels since mine is in that grid.
i really could care less what the parcel costs because my job in all this is to make the frame and pack it up securely. smiley face.
the costs of transport are a fact of life that are on the client's side of the ledger.
rather than tell the cat "tough luck", i thought i'd ask here if any knew of alternatives to fedex. smiley face.

Have you asked the client about the conundrum? They may have some insight into the shipping game on their end {I am betting that @ 59cm & buying a RS frame this may not be their 1st rodeo} Or, just talking it through may also show your side & you can come to a agreement, or heck - maybe their bro-in-law works for Lufthansa - you never know. FWIW {don't know what country you are sending to} but a few of my asian clients have had bikes sent by "consolidation companies" who get a whole shipping container going to say, Singapore {the last one I sent far, far away.} Shipping is truly one of the biggest evils we deal with. that & taxes. Oh yeah - Insurance, too. - Garro.

i asked here because the client asked me about the high costs of shipping.
there's no conflict or disagreement to talk through atmo.
as a courtesy to his concern for the bottom line, i started a thread here asking about alternatives to fedex for a parcel the size of which was listed above.
right now the box is taxed at over 130" inches and there's no way the unit for safely fit into anything much smaller.
hey - smiley face and all that...

The only way I could ever get shipping costs low enough for bikes that exceed 108" is to ship them to a friend of the customer who is currently stateside and have that person fly back with them.
    Sketchy, yes.

Ship it DHL Global. I can ship a 175-lb crate, insured to the gills, to say, London for around $300'ish. Edinburg is $400 as are most places in Europe. Neither UPS or FedEx can match their pricing and they've tried.

Does it need to go by air? It takes about 5 weeks to get stuff to Ukraine by sea. This company - which used to be Bax Global but got bought out by a German company - does both international air (in 3 price ranges depending on speed) and sea shipping <http://www.dbschenkerusa.com/internationalproducts/> I don't know their rates but I have a customer who is a broker that works there and I can make some inquiries.
