    Dazza, Thanks for such a great description of the sequence. I've just been preparing the crown for my first fork and that helped a lot in how to understand the process.

    When you talk about pinning the crown to the steerer and then fluxing, do you apply a layer of flux to the mating surfaces before assembly and pinning, or will the capillary action and heat draw the flux through the joint sufficiently? Also, did I understand the later post that you seal the fork blade vent holes after soaking out is done? Do you dry out the interior first with a light heating? It all makes sense but I'm just wanting to confirm a few thoughts.

    Thanks again,
    Jamie

    }

    What I do is
    Clean all surfaces, { no touching with fingers}
    check the fits and ease the fit if required
    drill for pin
    take apart
    flux the surfaces
    reassemble with the pin {I use 2.00 mild steel bullet head nails and taper them on my bench mounted belt sander and I ip the protruding pin off with small cutters}
    Apply more flux around the joints outsides
    then
    within 30 mins
    cook it up

    In all my fork blades I keep a vent hole in the dropout {the upper one is filled/pinned after trhe soak in the pickle tank and drying out}
    and the seat stays are vented through the seat lug
    and at the dropout
    I squirt Tectyl or such like inside SS and FS {and all other tubes}

    Later I want a fork crown like the LC32 but no hole underneath {I plug them in he LS32} so flushing is easy
    and spraying anti rust is easy
    and one less step to worry about
    and a crown that suits my build desires {one day}

    any questions?
