Earplugs for Sleeping
Relations with my upstairs neighbors have deteriorated since they acquired a new dog and a new baby. I'm tired of being awakened at 6am every day.
Anyone recommend some good comfortable earplugs for sleeping?
Oh and I have Tinnitus that ranges from a low hum to a buzzsaw if that matters.
Thanks.

Re: Earplugs for Sleeping
I'd try some cheap foamies first. You can get them at hardware stores and probably CVS/Walgreens. I use them and have pretty severe tinnitus. I've even rolled up pieces of tissue and that worked.

I've also used the foam plugs to good effect. It did take me a little getting used to but once I did they weren't an issue.
They didn't help quiet the tinnitus tho.

Re: Earplugs for Sleeping
John, I use Silencio liquid silicone plugs with noise canceling muffs for shooting. Unfortunately the Silencio jobs are no longer available. I've found these to be a very close equivalent: https://www.earplugstore.com/heartec...ear-trial.html
What I like about liquid silicone that that it conforms extremely well to your ear without alot of pressure and they can be washed/dried.
PS The cure for tinnitus is to not care about it. Ask me how I know.

People sleep past 6am?
John, let me know what you find and I'll get them for my downstairs neighbors.

I wore foam earplugs for 27 years in NYC, sometimes out in the street.

Re: Earplugs for Sleeping
I can’t sleep anymore without white noise. Or in my case dark noise. I have a Bluetooth speaker and simply stream a noise through my phone. Lots of different apps for this, some better than others. I use Apple’s built in sounds and it blocks out 90% of outside noise.

Ha!
I got up at 5:30 for 30 years.
I think I earned a sleep in until 8:00.

Re: Earplugs for Sleeping
The upstairs Husband is about #200 and we never hear a sound.
The Wife is #100 soaking wet and stomps around like an elephant.
I'm waiting for the next vacation when I tell Alexa to play North Korean news 24/7.
Thanks everyone for the good suggestions!

I've tried out and tested a bunch of different ear plugs. Moldex Meteors are the best I've come across. Noise reduction is my primary criterion, but they're plenty comfortable. I've had no problem sleeping in them.

Re: Earplugs for Sleeping
You may have to try a few different sizes and shapes to find out what works for you. At work I use 3M 'push in' plugs that give me good comfort and sound isolation. Their 'Skull Screws' (who thought that name was a good idea??) don't really seal my ear canal but others seem to like them.
My new upstairs neighbour has a young noisy kid, and snores at a competitive Olympic dB level. I have honestly never heard anything like it. I may have to see how well I tolerate the ear plugs sleeping myself.
For now, I have been running my ceiling fan on high in updraft mode for background noise.

That sounds very familiar - I just bought my wife some slippers with spongy soles for Christmas. I hope they help. Her whole family are stompers.
