i've never timed mine in various positions in order to balance out daily variations (see link) but may give that a go.
anybuddy do that? attempt to balance daily gains with nightly losses? main reason i haven't as i wear 'em 24/7 and when consistently alternating watches, the time is close enough.
also-my personal "trick" on day/date setting is to (of course letting the watch cycle through day/date movement before adjusting) use the quickset feature to get to yesterday's date, then to roll fwd cycling "naturally" into the current date. doing it that way prevents am/pm inversion.
