Default cyclus head tube reamer acme thread size ?

    hi all,

does anyone know what the thread size is for the acme nut / rod on the cyclus head tube reamer ?

i think it's a trapezoidal (30 degree metric) thread of 16 x 3mm, though i was wondering if anyone might have made parts for one and knew the actual dimension ?

    thanks

Looks like ISO Sq 16 x 3. Sq = Square thread, not trapezoidal.

This is confirmed by the width of the thread crests which is 1.75mm, it would be 0.75mm for an ISO trapezoidal thread because thread height is 0.5 x P and the trapezoids are at a 30 degrees, so they take up 0.75mm of pitch each, leaving 0.75 for the crests and the roots.

BTW, no such thing as a metric Acme thread, Acme is a Septic standard.

i've been asked to see if i can get some PF30 reamers made to fit that handle, and i might need to have a shorter shaft made, though i'll try and avoid that if i can !

i've got the handle already myself, it's a good buy for the money, just was unsure what the thread was

thanks to both andy and mark :)

A long while back I tried to determine this for my cyclus HT reamer. I was going to use a longer threaded rod so I could ream at 450 mm HT (dutch style cargo bike). Thanks for posting this information!

I think McMaster Carr sells metric trapezoidal threads and mislabels them as "ACME". Since the thread angle is only one degree different that's a forgivable sin.

This thread has been so very close to containing the obscure information that would be infinitely useful. How about the threads on Park and Cyclus or other HT reamer/facers? Some info here would be oh so helpful to mix and match cutters. A shim could be easily made to fit a cutter with a larger ID while turning the ID of a hardened steel cutter would be a deal breaker. I will measure/attempt to identify my icetoolz handle after it stops raining...

Thought i would add my findings... I purchased the 44mm Park Reamer and the over-sized facer and it installed without issue to my ice toolz handle. Identical tool mount diameters. Reamed perfectly with no chatter. Press fit like it should. If more depth than the reamer/spacer/facer setup provides was needed the reaming and facing would need to be done separately as the ice toolz handle provides just mounting length for the reamer-spacer-facer, no more. Good enough for a King external cup i know..
