    Default e-richie applies the brakes

    anybody catch this?

    Update: July 15, 2008

At this time, I have decided to close the order book to new clients for Richard Sachs Signature frames effective August 15, 2008. If you are currently contemplating a purchase and holding an order form, I encourage you to remit in the near future.

Please note that I will continue to accept new orders from current and previous Richard Sachs clients.

    Default I know...

...if I wasn't already stressed out enough about Matty B., now I need to get my crap together and get mine placed before planned (I was planning a trip out East in October...) Sigh. I am wondering if my Sach's lugs on my Rivendell will qualify me as a return customer? (-:

With this news, how many years will be added to the wait list between now and 8/15?

I admire Mr. Sachs for his accomplishments but there is no way I can justify waiting 6 years for an item I want to be on now. It's a friggin bicycle and today I rode one 30 miles and enjoyed it all the way. I know that one of his bicycles would be as good as it gets but in all honesty a Sachs underneath
me would be like putting earrings on a pig.:beerglass:

Default Beauty in the urban jungle

This is my first post here. I have enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts on this forum. I have relished spinning this machine around the Windy City for the past 2 months now after (only) a 5-year wait. Guess I was lucky it was that short, in retrospect. Beautifully balanced in all respects, this bike stands apart from all the others I have ridden. Ironic in this day and age, when people are so focused on lengths (HT, TT, ST, etc.), geometries, stiffness/forgiveness, rail-cornering, stability, etc., that the most intuitive bike I've every had was built by a man who (I have heard) never measures the angles on the bikes he builds. That is the definition of a master.:adore:

That's a huge drain pipe. Gorgeous bike. Nice juxtaposition with the brick and concrete jungle. High five. I truly find myself wanting to visit Chester.

Based on the wait time when I first started seriously contemplating getting a Sachs, I'd have had it last year. But last year turned out to be the year my riding started winding down with a much more serious reduction this year. Is it a blip or a trend? Only time will tell. On one hand, I sort of regret not having bought one of these masterpieces. I think I'd have fully appreciated it a few years ago (just before I'd have gotten it). Getting in line now based on the thought that I *MIGHT* be riding a lot again in 20?? is tempting but a bet I ultimately can't justify. And its not like the Spectrum I put most of my miles on these days isn't an absolute friggin' joy every time I throw my leg over it (and was a big part of killing my lust for other bikes and hence, I'm not in line for a Sachs).

But, damn, I've seen a few of Richard's bikes up close and the craftsmanship is unlike anything I've seen, and I've seen some NICELY built bikes. So it would almost be worth it for the art if I never rode it. But that's not what bikes are for, particularly bikes as perfectly balanced and well thought out as Richard's, so I guess I'll continue to leave that place open for someone that's gonna really appreciate it and ride the crap out of it.

Ray Sachs - (yeah I know, I REALLY shoulda)

While attending an Arlo Guthrie concert he said something to the effect that he plucked his songs from the celestial river of songs but the only problem being that he was always fishing downstream from Bob Dylan....

We are here. I will gladly fish downstream from eRichie.
