but i wont quibble about tenni w/ darren... esp after watching the us open final the other day and having played a lot of tennis years ago.
those guys are playing a different game than the top guys when i played.

This is good bar argument fodder. Downhill skiers are freakish athletes. Having the strength and coordination to guide yourself down a mountain at 70-80 mph is a rare gift. I worked for years with a world cup caliber skier; his reflexes were mind boggling. NBA players are the best athletes of the "Big 3".

Personally, I'd have to say hockey players. There's a lot going on with speed, power, endurance, strength, eye / hand coordination, all while skating on ice, forwards and backwards with people trying to knock you off your skates. ...And there's fist fights.

This is my vote. The Motorcross racers are amazingly fit, work their whole bodies, have incredible coordination, vision, stamina etc..

OK, but cyclists are still the toughest sumbitches in sport. They race in weather that cancels other sporting events, the events are longer with no sidelines to rest on (sticky bottles not withstanding) and when they crash, unless they're absolutely broken, they get up and finish the race.
