Doug Jones is proof Americans can be made of sterner stuff than craven political opportunism. In the political fight of his life in Alabama and will vote to convict. More than you can say for someone like Susan Collins, who at least the President should use every opportunity with his "perfect" call nonsense to show what a stupid line of reasoning she's using to defend her acquittal vote. I'd be shocked if Susan keeps that seat come November.
Trump got reelected last night. Symbolic or not, Pelosi's actions at the end will be a focal point of republican campaign commercials.

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?
And it fired up the Democratic base given the reading this morning.
Let's face it, Presidential elections aren't about a single continuum of voters any longer, it's two separate bell curves of people in each respective camp. It's all about driving turnout within those respective bases.
And let's face it, all anyone is talking about is her tearing up the speech.
Nah, he got reelected when he got impeached. And his battle cry is going to be "no other impeached president has ever been reelected. ever. i'm the first. i know more about impeachment than anyone. and no other president has even run for a 2nd term." Then he'll tear some piece of paper in half.

Er ... the election isn't until 11/3/20, so nobody gets elected or reelected until then. And while Trump certainly could get reelected, I'm reminded now of Winston Wolf admonishing Jules and Vincent after they got brain matter splattered all over the back seat of a car - "let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet." And if Trump does get reelected, it won't be because Nancy ripped up his speech or because he got impeached. As of today, we have no idea who the D nominee will be, and I'm old enough to remember when folks were certain that Hillary had the election in the bag.
And the large field of viable democrat candidates will make it tougher to appeal to a base until the smoke clears and one candidate emerges. Hillary lost in 2016 because she ignored some states and her campaign was tone deaf at times. But she was also affected by Bernie hanging on so long forcing her to the far left to beat him (kind of) before she could shift to the center for the general election. I would hope the democrats learned from that and choose a candidate earlier.
Trump already has an established base and it is pretty sizable. The democrats would be dumb to ignore that again.

Don't forget that this is a man who has torpedoed his own exceptionally lucky life many, many times. He remains the greatest risk to his own fantasies.

that's the American problem right there. I'm a big proponent of free speech so that people can tell you who they really are,
and you should be able to listen to their arguments and judge them on their merits. The fact there is more than 5% of the
population that thinks he's qualified and has the right temperament for the job is not his fault. God help your great country.

It's kind of nuts isn't it?
He refuses to shake her hand. She rips up his speech. Yet this later of two petty acts will result in one of them being reelected. That doesn't make sense. In a rational world of course.
Trump really seems to have an issue with women who stand up to him.
The Democratic Party is committed to the existing process, for better or for worse. People vote, delegates are appointed proportionately, there's a convention, and if no one comes in with a majority of delegates, complications ensue until a majority is reached. Abandoning this process at this point would cost the party much more than it could ever make up, especially in the current climate.
If it were big enough it would have not lost the popular vote by 2.5 million votes the last time around. Yes, yes, we know, it's the electoral votes that matter, etc etc.
His support has a ceiling, and he's done nothing but try to amplify within that small base. He's not looking to expand it, other than some harebrained claims to African Americans and LGBTQ that are not connected to reality.
He's never been above a 50 percent approval rating and every data point since 2016 shows an electorate much more enthusiastic about Democrats than Republicans, even in places that were solidly red in 2016. There are a lot of suburban districts that were red that flipped blue in 2018 due to outrage for this jabroni in the White House. I wouldn't take away that one complicated, largely undemocratic process of a caucus in a state that's 90% white is indicative of the Democrats' chances against the guy in a general.
Could he win? Sure, but he's got a very clear ceiling for what his performance will be, and the floor is a lot more concerning if you're him. But Democrats absolutely need to show out on election day to have a shot, because the cult of personality certainly will be there.
That's because he's a fucking punk. An entitled brat who has found some reality tv based method of using braggadocio as if he's accomplished anything at all. He's a boar. A misogynist. A walking sack of shit who'd never exist outside of this short attention span era we're all in. He's the representative of a dumbed down America. People voted for him out of spite, not because they believed he could lead this country. If he leads at all, it's to a cesspool of low standards and even lower morality. I'd be fine right now if I read on Peter Flax's Twitter page that a truck took DT45 out while he was in the bike lane in Bensonhurst.
Yes, a punk with a lot of people supporting him and his actions. He has allowed many people to release their inner-punk-self and be proud of doing so.
I've said it before but the hated that's spread across the country can be directly traced back to the guy and his twitter account.

If the process is more important than the result, you play. If the result is more important than the process, you work.
I'm happily donating to her opponent, Sara Gideon.
And to Doug Jones.
And let's acknowledge the bravery and integrity of Mitt Romney, who's not always had the fortitude to stand for what he believes. Good job on this one.
