I use a MACAP that I got some years ago before the price hike however there are lots of good options in that department.
Thanks for the Flair tip, that one seems like just the system I would want to buy to make espresso. I read and watched a bunch of reviews and comparisons with other same type of manual systems and that one seems to have stolen the showed, they even compared it to expensive fully automatic machines and the Flair came out favorable against those. And the Flair sells replacement parts should that ever be needed. I had also looked at the Roco, HandPresso, and the Staresso, and the Flair seems to have won out over those others as well.

    Thanks for the Flair tip.

Glad you like it. FWIIW I bought a second metal body so that I'm able to have two ready to go since I often want a second helping.

I had a meeting yesterday in a local (Pittsburgh) shop that was new to me and their espresso gear was pretty impressive. I asked about the equipment of course and found out that it's made in Fort Wayne of all places...super slick and I enjoyed the part in the review about the temperature having the option of being read in degrees Kelvin...nerdy for sure. PS...the shop had miniature painted cyclists in a peloton on display so I knew that I was among friends.

I did not buy it though it required an act of personal fortitude.

About the same $$ as the 2018 35mm Bora Ones if that helps;-). Our 17 year old Quickmill Anita died, so this is a nice step up (rotary pump, PID, and plumbable.) With a similar lifespan there is a business case;-)

Water here is really hard and the inside of everything water touched was totally calcified. It would have needed a total disassembly, cleaning, then reassembly, new seals, and a new pump. I don't have the skills so thought it better to put the time and $$ into a new machine. Dealer took the old machine and gave me a nominal amount as a trade.

Have now switched to reverse osmosis water.
