Portland isn't just known for bikes and coffee...there's Langlitz Leathers. I asked my wife after this catalog came in the mail..."How can you not want to order one of these jackets right this minute, based solely on the photos of Ross and Mavis?" The cool meter is at 11.
The Thruxton is hot. Not really a reenactment, as the new ones start every time and don't leak oil everywhere.
Yeah! It is hot and that lack of an oil spot is important innovation. As much as I like it, and I do, I'm turned off by the faux cooling fins and other faux features in the "heritage" bikes as Triumph calls them. It's also down about 45hp from another 1200 I dig, the ducati monster 1200s.

i will have to look at that 1200. My big complaint about most of the newer bikes is that they all look like transformer toys. The Thruxton looks like a proper motorcycle. The bike I have now has way more power than I need for the bulk of my uses and ability. It just keeps going, so no need to change.
2 different bike in my opinion but the pricing will be pretty close I bet. That thruxton r will go for a mint.
I'd go for the 1200 over it in a hearbeat as it has a lot more tech going for it not mention that sweet sounding L-Twin.
Yes and no. It's not like bicycles where I may go mountain biking today, road riding tomorrow and to the track this weekend. My riding would not change on one bike or the other. Same roads, same distances etc. the thruxton really appeals to me on a cool level, it's just those small retro things I would need to get over.

That's one of the reasons I like my older monster. The air cooled two valve head is really basic but the bike suits me well and I can pretty easily do all my own maintence.
