I was finally able to tear myself away from the books to get in some pedaling time. I forgot that bikes are fun!
There is light at the end of the tunnel apparently...
Today I gave notice that the girls and I will be leaving Georgia and returning to the farm in Mississippi. I was offered a job overseeing the new data analytics program for the Mississippi Department of Education. The judge is signing my divorce paperwork as we speak. Not only did my company not show me the door, but they've asked me if they could have me do some 1099 work after I leave since they're not sure if they can find someone to do my job in short term.
So I'll get to bookend this part of my life with:
1. a new job
2. a pay raise
3. job security
and most importantly
4. custody of my girls.
It's been a tough year. I'm thankful for the resiliency of my kids and the support of my parents. My dad already traded in his 650i for a CX-9. I think he's excited about being a full-time Opa.

Insubordinate. And Churlish.
I didn't have the best week, but I went on the Wednesday night mountain bike ride with Freeze Thaw Cycles, and it was a hoot
My father gave me a call last night telling me he was bringing home some extra stone crabs from a company event and asked if I'd like to come over for dinner. Uh, yeah. So I plowed through a pile of these colossal claws.
And as a bonus, I'm one meeting away from 17 straight days off of work.
lifted weights this morning, one meeting, then out on the bike for a few hours to welcome in the weekend. 45+ in December in New England? Clocking 10 hours on the bike during the weekdays. I'll take it.
I am 22 hours away from leaving for a 7 day scuba trip to Cozumel. I am looking forward to blowing bubbles and swimming with the fish.

GO!
I'm off until 1/4. I'm planning on not doing much. At some point during this break, I'll have to nut up and get back on a bike to see how the back is doing. It's good that I've got my choice of time to ride and not up against sunset for a while.

Don't want to seem greedy but feeling good that part of the back up plan came through as well.

been at the new job for about 2 months (still digging it, my boss says i'm doing great and that she knows i try very hard), and was just given a little 1.3% bonus. never got a bonus at the old job, and wasn't expecting anything after only being here 2 months. soo hello new-pants-day-and-paying-for-all-the-christmas-presents-and-buying-me-dinner-and-leftover-$-goes-to-savings day!
A week late, because I don't know where the last week has gone....
My wife and I introduced our baby girl to the world last Friday morning, exactly one month ahead of schedule. Talk about prompt.
Everyone is well, cant wait to be given the green light to bring her home- hopefully this weekend.

no project managers have responded to e-mails i've sent with requests for information needed to get us paid. so i have had very little to do today, and it's been nice.

The holiday party at my job/school just finished, get to go home and take a nap, and then head to the holiday party at my wife's job/school.
Party, nap, party.
Who could ask for anything else on a Friday?
It was my birthday yesterday and this came via the USPS. Not a bad birthday gift.
I also won a raffle prize at my office Movable Feast holiday celebration today.
Happy Birthday!!
Congrats.

My amazing friends call me Shoogs.
If I stop and do the math:
- A week ago I owned the condo; had a home equity loan; and was waiting for the dishwasher.
- Today I no longer own the condo; paid off the home equity loan, and own the dishwasher.
My net worth is basically unchanged, except that:
- I paid a hell of a lot of banking, broker and legal fees.
- I paid for installation and sales tax on the dishwasher.
- The dishwasher instantly depreciated.
It better be a damned good dishwasher.
