God, thanks for that. And if only everyone remembered "Girlfriend"! In the alternative universe where I'm king it was the record of the year (OK actually Nevermind would have been the best record of '91...)

Sweet's band for those records was so fantastic - Quine, Richard Lloyd, Fred Maher and Lloyd Cole (who used the same band for his records). Decent overlap with the crew from Lou Reed's best '80s records, too.

    So here's something:

Evangeline is another killer pop tune.

I liked Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. A Dallas buddy turned me on to them ca. 1986(?) or so. Thanks for that vid. Is Quine deceased? Thought I heard that somewhere.

Yeah. He was deeply depressed. Lost his wife, then his life.

This one seems appropriate, brimming with terror and genius:

I was on a plane w/ Dino Jr. going to Brazil. Then went to a festival the following day and they were playing. They blew my ear drums out (not literally).

I talked to them briefly during a lay-over - nice guys.

Further back from yesterday's early-90's Power Pop. 1977 in fact. The Vibrators. Early Punk come stateside. I can still vividly recall my very first listening to this. Tight.
