I was on a Zoom call with a few co-workers and one of our VP’s was not on the screen. She told me that you don't want to see me without makeup as it was 6am Pacific and the majority of the other callers were on Eastern. I told her that I could relate, as I’ve made a few (non-video) calls in my jammies. The funniest though was when she said that if this goes on for too long, we will all get to see her slowly transform to a brunette.

So I'm waiting for radiation the other day and there's this lady that started a few days after I did. Every day she's beaming, upbeat, cheery greetings. We're waiting a few minutes together the other day talking and she coughs. She says "Don't worry, I'm not sick. I have lung cancer" and pats her side.

We ended up making our own hand sanitizer with Aloe lotion and alcohol. It is around 80% alcohol, just to be sure. My mechanics treat it like static electricity, you need to touch the doorknob even though you'll get shocked. The high alcohol content means that every cut and scrape on their hands will make itself known. Just squirt it on your hands and feel the burn.

Yes, because we're using denatured.

95% denatured ethanol, at least what we get in my lab, has 4-5% methanol. Are you concerned about applying that to skin? Or do you have some other type of denatured ethanol? I've been trying to decide if it's a good idea to make a batch of this.

It's the only kind I could get. I'm in a vital industry so we've been struggling to keep the plant clean with the shortages of supplies from places like Grainger, McMaster, etc so we've been working outside our normal boundaries. Yesterday we got our order of Lysol concentrate from Sam's Club. We got 100 gallons of bleach (lemon scented) from the Dollar Store. We also have two pallets of pool chemicals that we mix with water for surface disinfectant. It is basically concentrated bleach so we lower the ration to water. I have three chemical engineers, we did the math. We made 32 four by six foot free-standing plastic curtains to separate workers who couldn't get 6 feet because of their function. We're getting material for our 3D printer to make facemask frames.
We'll all come out of this smarter and more resourceful.

Do you know Bob Marley (not that Bob Marley)? Check out CRONA WATCH 2020. And if you've ever been to Maine it helps, but not necessary to appreciate.
