Cruel Country

Just my first listen, but for music that's quiet and simple it's surprisingly vivid.
Tweedy's lyrics are excellent and the six of them playing together... Good God they're wonderful.

^Heard half the album yesterday. Digging it. Tweedy is scary consistent.
Tweedy has a great way with sustained metaphor. Lyrics that sound like a love song but are actually metaphorically darker. This album seems like he's focused his skills and the edges are sharper.
Have long liked, but am listening to right now and never saw the video before:

Woke up to minutes ago hearing for the first time ever, but knew I liked right away:

Now here's a list of "therapy music", stuff I've listened to throughout the last week specifically to ease anxiousness (whole album unless otherwise stated):

Thanks to a Spotify search, I learned Royksopp released a new album this year, and I'm pleased to report it's as solid as all their previous works.

Coincidentally, listening to that song, I finally remembered this one which had been flickering in my mind for two or three days but that I just couldn't remember.

Just this song, though listening to it led to me listening to Memory Tapes's whole album "Grace/Confusion".

No only Javelin's "EP2", but before that "EP1", and after that "No Mas" - the duo is among my favorites.

I like Mr. Lovett's new album. Generous use of the horn section gets a thumb's up.
(I don't eat much meat, but given that I have a couple of Hampstens, I'll call myself a pig meat man, too. :-D).

Four records. The first is the A&M sessions, the second a 100 Club show from late 1976. The third is the Dallas show, chaotic and violent. And the fourth is the night rock & roll died, at Winterland on 1/14/78.

Love me some Grizzly Bear!
Here's some classic 2010 poppy stuff.

Edit: Now listening to this one that helped me through establishing the shop and coping with who I'd become back in 2016/2017.

Have been listening to The Octopus Project all day while cleaning up the yard. They're an awesome band in so many ways. Listening to this one from 2002:

I came to love this one three years before I ever even considered the idea of bicycle touring, which was six years before my first bicycle tour.
"Well, just to solve all my problems, to get out of drugs, I, I'd had enough of that, I'd had the college, I'd had the- earning the money and...the material trip. I just decided I was going to find a new way of life. And so I took off on my bicycle."

Not exactly listening right now, but I saw Stacey Kent this evening and she was sublime. Small theater of maybe 1000. A nearly perfect night.

One of the later (circa 2000) incarnations of the Earthworks band. They seem a whole lot more nimble than either of the incarnations I ever got a chance to see live...jazz but not-jazz.

I hosted some musicians performing at my place last night to celebrate a clean house, my first vacation since opening shop, and my first bicycle/train tour since 2013 which starts tomorrow. A surprising amount of people showed up, and as far as I know, all ended well. I say as far as I know, because at some point I rode away...and didn't return until 2:30ish am to find the doors still wide open, the lamps still on, and nobody here. Living in a small town is kinda cool that way.
Anyway...eat your dinner, kids! Also...now listening to some poppy stuff, cos I still haven't mounted my complicated fenders or packed any of my stuff.

Gotta get things done, so "Energy" is apt.

I have problems: I can't listen to B Boys without also listening to Omni.

Last night I met a bartender who doesn't really like music, which is so foreign to me. I grew up falling asleep to music, and even DJ'd for the local college Station both when I was a student and a decade later. Sometimes my own life is hard for me to believe.
