Running in PDX - recommend a trailhead/park to start from?
Spending one night in Portland next week and will likely have enough time in the morning to get in a decent run.
And by decent, I mean no more than 3-5 miles but will have time to maybe Uber to a trailhead in Forest park or similar. So can anyone recommend somewhere reasonably close to downtown that I could get a lift to, then get in a nice run on some dirt/gravel/etc.?
I parked my rental car somewhere in Forest Park last year and just took a walk, but I don't remember where that was other than it was close-ish to St John.
thanks,
Matt
PS- bummed the Timbers nor Thorns have a home game

I recently went to PDX and snuck a run into my packed schedule, but at night. I stuck to the city, over the steel bridge into and around the Pearl District. the street life was amusingly different to what I'm used to on the east coast.

That's a good route to go, and I've run it before. Really anywhere in the city is pretty scenic to run through. But be prepared to tell lot's off panhandlers to **** off. Oh wait, thats what I do. :)

Thanks Todd.
I've done that a couple times, but having had a taste of just how different the woods are out there from the east coast, I'm looking for some dirt. (And shade: it looks like high 90's next week, which is funny since last time I was there last August, they recorded some of their hottest days ever. Must be me.)
