Ooof that was wonderful.
That's an awesome piece, and the spirit befits a memorial perfectly.
BTW if you ever get a chance to go to Newfoundland, go. One of my favorite places. Beautiful.
Tops.
And a soundtrack from The Avalanches never hurts..
Boy, i recognize all of that.
My sister and her husband live in Rossland and I was just over there a couple of weeks ago, already snow on the ground.
Nelson is a funny place, a real “hippy town”. I walked out of a coffee shop on the main drag one day in summer a couple of years ago. There’s three people standing on the sidewalk talking and one of them is in a suit. A suit in Nelson is unusual to begin with but this was a stunning suit and it caught my eye. Clearly custom tailored, 3 piece chalk stripe - just stunning. So I’m standing there looking at these folks talking, the guy in the suit has a tiny attaché case in his hand, again, just an eye popping piece.
He’s standing there in his suit, holding his attaché case, coffee in the other hand .... his salt and pepper hair is tied back in a very neat pony tail that reached almost to his knees ... and he was barefoot.
Barefoot, and the suit was cut for his being barefoot as the trouser drape was perfect.
I just sort of smiled and thought “yup, I’m in Nelson”
So, so good.
Be the child, not the parents.
I once talked my dad, cousin, and friend into taking 2 days out of a spring skiing trip at Schweitzer in order to cross the border and try the legendary red mountain. It rained. Heavily. Nonstop. We spent the night, had breakfast, cruised to Nelson/whitewater in desperation. Also raining. So we picked up some booze and returned to Idaho. I have fond memories regardless.
If Danny Macaskill was on sticks and not wheels.
VERY COOL.
Yeah, I posted this in the other ski thread, but it bears repeating... if you haven't seen the original piece which is hommaged, you really should. And even if you have already, there's no reason not to watch it again :)

That shot with the bird mural was so nice.
Oh man! Both those videos are so good. JP Auclair is one of my favorite skiers to watch. His video parts kept getting better and better, and the ski mountaineering that he was getting into with Andreas was incredible. It's an absolute tragedy what happened to them as they both were such inspirations. If you poke around on Vimeo there are a lot of great videos from both of them.
We should start an OT Ski Thread. All my worlds would then collide on one forum.
Apogee - Memorial film for Andreas Fransson and JP Auclair on Vimeo
This video is what came of the project that Andreas and JP were working on. It's about 15 minutes, but a great watch.
cool video. Thank for posting!
