Saab - that will make a great autocross car...
It's probably coming out east to become my east coast car next month. I might lower it an inch or so and it will need some new tires soon. I doubt I'll do all that much to it to make it a real performer, but one of the guys in my crashpad is a car nut and already has ideas on what to do. He's also pretty handy, so things could happen. We'll see.......
But I won't track it. If anything, it'll be a sleeper but a fast sleeper. I do know that it WILL oversteer quite nicely, even at just 112 hp or whatever it has. I can report that from first hand knowledge.
This one is just about the top of my shortlist:

Approximately what vintage? I see a lot of Alfa Romeo GTV in the lines of those.
1st gen Skyline GTRs. Think the first 2 are 1972s.
1st gen Skylines are big $$$- very, very cool cars. I also like the old Datsun 510- pretty sure I've even seen one with a SR20DET motor in it. That would be fun.
I'd really like to have an Alpine A110- such a cool car.

That Alpine is cool, as are the 510s and many other vintage Japanese cars.
They don't make them like they used to that's for sure. What happened to small/light/agile cars - new Camaro is 3700 pounds, M3 almost 4000! Give me a stripped out E30 or any number of vintage cars over today's monsters imho...
I agree, it's no wonder fuel consumption standards are so slow to improve. It seems that cars are continually getting bigger, heavier and more feature leaden. I for one prefer to roll the window down by hand. I realize I'm a bit of a curmudgeon on the subject, but I like small, lightweight cars that serve as transportation and not bloated symbols of my importance in the world. Ideally a modicum of sportiness is combined with efficiency and practicality. I'm sure those Skylines are a lot faster than I need, but they look like a car a person could actually use.
E30s are wonderful cars- I certainly miss mine. I'd love an E30 M3 but the S14 motors are a bit pricey to maintain/rebuild. Of course there's always the E36 M3 Lightweight (uber rare) but I still prefer the E30 M3.
If I could own one classic BMW it would be a 2002 tii- preferably the Alpina version. Lightweight, fun to drive and seats four- it even has good parts availability. :)

Of course if I could have ANY classic road car (cost no object) this would be at (or very near) the top of my list- '67 Alfa 33 Stradale.

Realistically the closest I'll probably get to any lightweight performance car will be a Locost Seven- that would be a lot of fun to build.
The 2002 also holds 3 kegs of beer in the trunk. The Alfa...maybe not.
Yes. One fits really well sideways under the parcel shelf and the other two run parallel north/south. Jetski in a 900? If it was a hatchback, I believe it, I had two hatchbacks and that car holds major cargo. I call BS on a 4 door.
Yep- 900 hatchback first generation. When I moved in with my wife I borrowed a 9000 hatchback (2nd gen) from the dealership where I worked (BMW/SAAB/VW) and almost fit the entire contents of my apartment in it- including my futon. The Aero models were always fun to drive.
David, what sorta mileage are you getting out of the Fit? We got ours about 3 weeks ago and have just under 500 miles on it. I drove about 130 miles today, 85% highway @ 60-70mph, and got 42.4mpg per the trip computer. Pretty awesome for not a hybrid or diesel.
Acura looks like it might be manufacturing a bicycle-friendly vehicle with the ZDX model.
Will have to visit a dealership to see if the rear hatch allows clearance.

The ZDX makes the Aztec look like a styling tour de force.
Yeah, the ZDX isn't particularly attractive. Agreed.
