Thank-you notes.
My mom always made sure we wrote thank-you notes. My oldest sister always makes a point of it, handwritten ones, so she keeps me on the straight and narrow.
We just had a kitchen job done, new stove, hood, tiling where a dumb idea over the range microwave was. A local hauler took away the appliances.
We got a handwritten thank-you note from the hauler expressing appreciation that they were in the garage and easily accessed. On top of that the contractor, not affiliated with the hauler, just sent a thank-you note for the kitchen job.
They must be in league with my sister. Despite that they'll definitely be given a call for jobs down the road.

Now that is a business you want to send others to. Good for them.

We are a TYN household.
I’m sure it’s gotten me at least one job offer, and I’ll not have my kids grow up thinking things are handed to them Willy-Nilly without their expressing gratitude.

Amen. We are a TYN house as well.
PS While you are at it don't be shy, pick up the phone too.

Re: Thank-you notes.
After 3 Christmases of sending presents to my nieces and nephews without a reply I finally had to set them straight.
The 2020 thank you notes are now posted on the side of our fridge.

Re: Thank-you notes.
At work, all the managers are required to send one card a week to recognize an employee. The card is white with the company logo on the front. I upped my game, the fiance is an artist, she took pages out of her sketchbook and cut them into 3X4" and glued them to cards. I put one of hers inside the company one with my comments on the inner card. It is an original work of art with a signature.
