Blue Jays, thanks for the reference to Dehen 1920. My cardigan just arrived and DANG! this is the real deal. Has to be 4 lbs of wool in this thing.
With this and my FL Woods Sopwith sweater, I think I can safely donate all my Chinese wool to Goodwill!

They are so good, still waterproof and despite the linings being entirely worn out I'm able to go for a dog walk without socks in 20F weather.

Mine are the origional versions. Here is a pic. of the current boot >>
When I was a kid, I remember the Scheel's stores in Fargo had racks of replacement liners. I didn't tie my boots, so I'd wear out the heels of the liners on a regular basis.
Last month I saw my mom wearing her pair that probably dates from the 60s. Amazing stuff.

True story. My girlfiend and I one drove from St. Paul To Fargo in a snow storm just to see if we could do it. Thing was we were driving a Saab so it was cheating.

I still carry and use my 41cv, daily. It travels with me, it goes to work and back by bike ... I think I bought it in about 1979 ??
And just in case you ever forget to carry it ...
There are HP 41cv and HP12c apps on the iOS App Store. Have not searched for the 15c but it would not surprise me.

Silca pumps. No wonder they ran into financial trouble. We all bought exactly one.
Patagonia Capilene base layers. I have one that's 25 years old.
Zamberlan hiking boots.

Glad you like it! So far, I have a cardigan in loden green and a motorcycle sweater in black.
Needless to say, the quality is such that they will be bequeathed to someone in my will. :-)

I'll toss in another vote for Toyota. This '95 Land Cruiser reminds of her quality everytime I take it for a spin.

Airplanes.
Peering out the window as a 777 gets pummeled by turbulence high over Canada or Star Wars like thunderstorm clouds around Newark during the hottest part of summer

So you say your travel coffee mug is awesome? No, no it is not. What you need is a Zojirushi SM-SC60 which will keep your coffee steaming hot for the entire day if you so choose. This silly thing is too good, much like many Japan goods.

whoa rad. these guys make tons of cool coffee products
Re: Things that are made better than they have to be
Nice.
I have a couple old school Stanley travel mugs that help me caffeinate on my morning dog walks. The plastic tops never seem to last long, but Stanley sends replacements out free of charge. The mug itself should outlast the apocalypse.
Will look into that one if I ever need another.

Music reference RM 10 amplifier.
Music Reference RM-10 Vacuum Tube Amplifer
These things are beautifully designed, bulletproof, sound great, are silent, and are a great value for a high end piece of stereo equipment. I sold a pair of joule electra rites of passage because of this little thing.
Re: Things that are made better than they have to be
Not only are these made better than they have to be, but there is a 50% sale on now. I went semi-nuts, and now have enough towels for effectively ever. The rest of my linen stuff, as good as it is, is now the bottom-shelf gear. How good is it? It's the BluSkillet of linen. That describes its pricing, too. Even after the discount. Worth it.

You're not lying. My wife has one of these and I've burned myself several times hours later!

I will play again.
Feathered Friends sleeping bags. I have one from the 1970's and one from a few years ago. The former was inherited from my father. The latter I picked up as a summer-only update to the climbing bag that still surrounds me on trips to this day. Built in Seattle.
Best Regards,
Will

I visited their brick and mortar shop a few years back when I was in Seattle for a conference. What a cool place!
Re: Things that are made better than they have to be
Feathered Friends down bag: i bought one from their small store in Seattle in mid 80's. Hasn't changed a bit--the bag that is.

The old Outdoor Research Water Bottle Parka is amazing.
https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kemUJkW5I...0/P8220382.jpg
Keeps cold drinks cold and water from freezing while winter backpacking.
The new model is not as good, the top is too high so you have to pull the bottle out to drink, but the fleece inside sticks to a bottle with condensation on it so its a real pain to actually get to your Nalgene.

Just added a https://www.dehen1920.com/shop/shawl-sweater-coat to the mix. Superb!
