A little off topic, but this reminds me of when I went to the San Diego Zoo many years ago. It is a neat zoo, where the apes and chimps were in open space and the human visitors walked through an enclosed area.
I saw a chimp down a pretty deep hole, digging. There were about a half dozen other chimps just standing around the hole watching, kind of like the retired guys you mention. Reminded me of a road crew.
A couple days later, I read in the paper that they had dug out, free of the zoo for a while.
They are a lot more like us that most give credit for.
Or, you could spend your time tending to your new home.
A nice variety. If the riding in the area were nice I'd definitely consider the restore flour mill. (image below)
But given the super-affordable price, I have to wonder...
