Re: We are a lucky bunch.
+100 on that.
Sad too, are those who do have control and don't use it.
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
Count your blessings. When I see stuff like that I'm reminded what a crap shoot this all is.
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
Yes. I have some little albatrosses in my life but I am sound of mind and body and get to ride cool bikes all the time. Tragedies have struck people around me and my family recently and among other things I think, "Be grateful every day."
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
Had this very thought this afternoon. Spent 2.5 hours riding with one of my grown (step)sons. Out of the blue he turned to me and said how thankful he was for us to have the chance to ride together from time to time. I introduced him to the bike ten years ago and it took. He was surprised how much he liked it. He hasn't owned a car in 8 years.
Made my day. Maybe my year.
We stopped by the nursing home on the way home and visited his grandfather, who has Alzheimer's. We agreed we are fortunate indeed.
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
Perspective is the most important thing that's ever happened to me.
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
The family and I went hiking in Shenandoah this weekend. On our descent from Crabtree Falls we passed a young woman who was hard of sight, or totally blind, walking with the aid of her parents and a cane. I took a moment to give thanks for a healthy 4 month old and our, the parents, ambulatory ability to take him on hikes. Also took the time to give her kudos for getting out there despite her limitations.
A timely thread for sure.

You don't know what you've got until it's gone, or so the song goes. It's true though. Live every day with as a few regrets as possible.

still so many hang-ups, but my thing is closer each and every day..

Re: We are a lucky bunch.
Nice crowd here. It helps.
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
I couldn't agree more!
Reminds me of a time I took our 2 year old twins to the grocery store. They were screaming and crying all the way there and began to pinch, scratch and pull at each other after I sat them in the cart. My patients were thin and felt like straggling at least one of them - I just couldn't make up my mind which one.
About the same time I looked around to see another family with twins. About the same age but with down's syndrome. I didn't mean to stare as long as I did but it made me realize how easy I had it.
Perspective. It's all we have when all knowledge is gone.
Thanks for the little reminder!
Re: We are a lucky bunch.
I try to cultivate gratitude.
It makes me appreciate my good fortune more, and tolerate my bad fortune better.
