I know it is Monday but we have our August Monday holiday today in the UK so it still feels we are in the weekend.
Beef joint, Irish Moiled beef, from our local rare breed farm who only kill two or three steers per year.
Home grown vegetables thanks to Mrs. P J. Beans, spinach, pink fur apples, beetroot (and courgettes which were all eaten before I took the photo).

Deb and I had Pad Kra Pao (spicy pork and thai Basil) last night and it was really good. Daughter Jess had been over earlier and took a few Peppers home. Said she was making Vietnamese Carmel Pork for dinner. When I asked how it was she sent a picture and the word Tasty. The Apple didn't fall far from the tree, and she's starting to use food as an artistic outlet. Proud Papa moment here :>).

Mrs. RW is on her Fall/Winter soup kick...some kind of chicken with quinoa, tomatoes, potatoes, peas and parsley/gluten free recipe that was quite tasty.
I just realized I hadn't made summer corn chowder the other day and so I did with six ears. It was quite tasty and very corny, like my jokes. And then I made a bunch of salsa with garden tomatoes for my ongoing Mexican food feasting.

Last Saturday’s dinner...braised chicken and ham with a white wine/mushroom sauce, side of pasts, broccoli and homegrown garden veggies...coupled with a hazy IPA.
The meat sweats kept me from posting this last night. Belated happy Thanksgiving to other Canadian members.

Made an entirely un-photogenic version of the Forkish saturday white bread. Just couldn't get the proofed loaf to drop cleanly into the dutch oven, gotta try the parchment trick next time. Good to get baking again...
No pics unfortunately, but we were gifted a few big loads of locally foraged chanterelles and lobster mushrooms. Risotto and frittata were the results.
We were supposed to visit our oldest son who lives and works in Germany, but alas COVID-19 killed that plan. So I decided to try a relive a meal we had at the Augustiners in Munich the last time we visited.

So off I went to our local butcher/German specialty store (https://www.bavariasausage.com/) to get "pig knuckles", Spaetzle (Maggi from a packet not from scratch) and red cabbage (cause I prefer the sweetness vs the tang of sauerkraut).
Recipies are easy to find and after a long afternoon of low-temp braising followed by a blast of heat to crisp the skin, we had Schweinehaxe mit Spaetzle and Rotkohl. Couldn't find much German beer selection locally... too many damn hop bomb IPAs that I can't stand, but Krombacher was a reasonable choice

Long long ago I may have posted this. Here it is again with a few changes.
Fresh Cranberry Apricot Jalapeno Pepper relish
In a food processor using a chopping blade:
1. Pulse dried apricots until diced.
2. Add seeded Jalapeno to your tolerance level and pulse a few times to incorporate.
3. Add fresh cranberries and pulse a few times until you like how it looks.
4. Dump into a mixing bowl and squeeze orange juice + zest.
5. Add Maple syrup and mix all together.
6. Adjust maple syrup and citrus to your liking.
Suggest you make this one day ahead. Pack the relish into tea cups and store refrigerated tightly covered with plastic wrap. Unmold onto Grammy's Meissen ware and garnish with cilantro.

Our daughter is home for the week, so she made her focaccia and Mrs. RW responded with her shrimp diavolo...I just brought the wine.
Drool.
Well they weren't supposed to be dinner, but they were *so* good we ate the whole batch straightaway. Apple, cheddar, and rosemary scones (recipe followed as written, except I added a tablespoon or two of chopped fresh rosemary).
Forgive the meh photo, the taste and smell is superb.

Was going to be the four of us, Karen, her brother and her 89 year old Ma but Karen's bro had to skip because 2 of the 6 people on his crew live with someone that has Covid 19... and he's a chief HVAC tech at the big hospital in Albany and he says it's worse than this spring now. He doesn't want to expose us. All a way of saying we're going to load him up with:
Baked ham, Hasselback baked potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts carrots parsnips and golden beets. I got some pickled beets because I failed to make watermelon pickles this year so he's just gonna have to deal..
Finished with maple glazed pear pie. Heh heh. Plus I'm tossing in a few Finback stouts in case he gets thirsty.
