Along those same lines, the podcast Reply All, episode #135 , looked into this robocaller issue, and how they can track where you are. For example, I get a lot of calls from 706 numbers, because I have a 706 number. But when we moved to Macon I suddenly started getting 478 (the Macon area code) calls, even tho I still have the same number.
Apparently, some apps extract your location and phone number, and then sell that data to whoever wants to buy it. If you have any games or other BS apps like that....they likely sell your info without you knowing it.
