I'm crushed.
Read the January issue of Rolling Stone last night.
50 best albums of the decade: own zero, recognized maybe five, and there's only one that have I listened to more than one track (Bowie's Blackstar)
Note to self: pick up Moon Shaped Pool (Radiohead), Dark Matter (Randy Newman), and Wrecking Ball (Springsteen).
50 best songs of the decade: oh dear. I recognized only seven of them and they were by Adele, Lorde, Daft Punk, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, U2, and DJ Snake. I am in the Dad Zone. I might even be so far in that I'm almost out the other side.
Old and irrelevantly yours,
Tee Aitch.
PS What's a Post Malone?
Andy Gill has died, so I thought I'd let Entertainment! guide me through this morning's workout. But the first three Gang of Four albums - Entertainment!, Solid Gold, and Songs of the Free - are inexplicably not available to stream. And, really, they're the ones worth hearing.
So I had Solid Gold with breakfast, Bass Guitar and Drums yo. The first two songs still light me up. Presenting Andy Gill:

And one more, while the memories are fresh. They played a small club in Ann Arbor the summer of '81. John King whipping a folding metal chair as "He'd Send in the Army" begins was mesmerizing. Here's as close as YouTube gets:

I have a Mozart channel on my Spotify that is playing in the background each evening that I'm writing historiographical essays for my classes.
M83 circa 2003.
Agreed, and he's a pretty dang good guitarist too. I've got the digital album pre-ordered.
Here's another track off the new album. He played this one at the show we saw at the Ryman a few months back...it's great. There's no good quality version on YouTube yet, but this one isn't bad. The version we heard wasn't acoustic, it was with the full band.
