Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
After some detailed analysis by one of the leading doctors in the field of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, she confirmed that my wife does not have mycosis fungoides.
And my cardiologist told me that based on my stress test results and about 1000 photos of my heart valves, if I keep taking statins I’ll probably live forever.
So Friday is a bit more relaxed around here for us superhumans.

Slainte.
We got the oncologist's results for our 13 year old dog and the type of leukemia she has gives her about 2.5 years, so something else (old age?) will probably get her first. No treatment needed for a while.
Also, I have a 15lb brisket on the smoker and am going to watch my alma mater play football tonight with about 10 college buddies (outdoors), many of whom I haven't seen in a few years.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I have a viable plan to cycle around Japan for nine or ten weeks toward the end of summer, and I may well continue the trip across the Southern Tier that Covid cut short.
To top it off: meeting friends for oysters and martinis at 2.
Good news, Jorn. Health is everything. My son was diagnoses with mono, which brought on the myocarditis. He's home for six weeks, the semester having ended, and his mom will baby him.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
We were putting ornaments on the tree earlier this week and the oldest gave me one and said "here, this one is for you to put on". it was one wifey got after her dad passed away, but the text on it reads "a father's love is everything."
Then yesterday he gave me a birthday card in which he referred to me as his dad.
So that was nice.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
The kids are coming home for the holidays, everyone is healthy and boosted and my wife is beyond stoked, in terms of getting the house ready and rounding up the goods for the holiday recipes. I also had my last flight of the year and oh yeah…I only have four more tuition payments to make…that’s a countdown from ninety six in total.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
We're planning our Christmas. It's been a hectic year so this holiday season, we're driving up to Page, AZ (about 4.5 hours), hiking Antelope Canyon with a Navajo guide on Christmas Eve day, and spending Christmas Day with our fly rods on the Colorado at Lee's Ferry. We'll drive home via Grand Canyon NP. New Year's, we are going to stay home.
On a grump note, my son's plan is to head down to South Carolina to see his maternal family but the Covid cases at Annapolis are spiking despite a near 100% vaccination rate. If he tests positive, he will have a ten day quarantine. Almost all the positive cases have been very mild. His maternal grandfather is in home-hospice and not expected to live much longer. I surely hope he gets to see him one more time.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Some stuff at work that has been difficult/stressful for the last 2+ years has been resolved. The collarbone break/shoulder separation I suffered in July hardly deserves a footnote at this point. I'm hitting gym and power PRs left and right. 2022 will be a new year in many ways.

I know this was a week ago, but it made my day this week.

Best words one can hear came from my Doc yesterday when she said…”everything looked good…see you in 7-10 years”

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I'm usually bitching and moaning on the Thursday thread.
But I was relieved of my wrist fusion cast this morning.
Feeling pretty darn good about that!

Good morning! My treatment regimen is finished. I’ll be here for a month.

Congrats and safe travels.
This weekend is one of the last three before I start coaching my twins’ kindergarten soccer team again so I am planning on making the most of the downtime while I can.
60-70F in DC does not bode well for long term climate change but it’s hard to argue with on a one-off basis. I have some mulch to spread and dogs to walk but otherwise a blank slate.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I don't have to work this weekend. Supply chain issues have meant many working Saturdays. If the parts trickle in and the demand is unchanged, it takes longer to fill orders.

Very happy to be able to bump this thread today. I am officially retired. It's been a long, hard but worthwhile road. My wife has been a saint to support me through 40+ years. Pic attached is me circa 1980 as a fresh faced second year med student and me yesterday. Bookends.

Good on you. 12.25.23 if I make it that far!

Welcome to the club Lou. I’ve been a member for 2+ years now and haven’t looked back.

Good on you.
I decided at New Years there has to be an end to me being on call.
I figured I was willing to spend another 1/2 year of my life, or 26 weeks, on call.
Two of them are now done so that leaves me 24 to go.
Not sure what I will do after that.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Congrats Lou. Well earned.
My twins will graduate college (if all goes as planned) the year me and my wife turn 60, so that’s a possible target for us. They’re in kindergarten now, so…

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I made tuition payment number 96 of 96 at 6:47am EDT this morning. As I joked with my wife, the Ferrari is now paid for…that’s an F8 Spyder just to be clear, not the FS90 Stradale.
