Locust, ooooooh. Where did you get that? There was a source for locust in Deerfield, yes actually along the Detoo Artoo route, who no longer hangs a shingle. Amazing material.

Siga tape is more excellent, and more expensive. But holy shit if you're going to depend on something (and cover it up with hours and hours of your work), depend on this. https://sigatapes.com/
Re: Backyard shed/structure
I bought a log truck load from Peter Rayton who was clearing the lot where the Hebrew school was built in Northampton. Very low yield for saw logs because there was so many internal fissures and because the trees were spiral grain the boards aren't the flattest. Needed to use ice blades with no set on the Wood Mizer because the wood is so hard. But I also had fence posts in abundance and in the end firewood that lasts forever, burns hot, and leaves no ash. Locust is more common to the West of us. I bought out, at a discount, all the Honey and Black locust at a wood supply house in Sheffield years ago and had it milled into random width flooring for the first floor of my house. Makes a lovely floor.
Thanks for the tip on Siga.

Did you use those footing pads?Any trouble getting them flat?

I encountered some “unforeseen conditions” along the way, but we are ready for the she-shed panels to arrive. FWIW, I don’t recommend using the Groundhog HD99 when flying solo...especially with roots in the area. An old fashioned digging bar and post hole digger eventually saved my bacon.
Re: Backyard shed/structure
I've used a version of an Alaskan Slab: laying a pad of TRG on the ground and putting sleepers then sills on this. Fifteen years on through New England winters the buildings I have used this for are still straight.

Yes I did Nick...I placed about 1-2" of limestone aggregate below the pad, tamped it with a digging bar and then placed the pad on the stone...that helped to level. I then placed the 4" x 6"'s on the pad...easy peasy.

Yessir and tamped the soil with the flat end of the digging bar as I backfilled. Soil around here has a lot of clay content and shale, so mixed with a little water and pressure, it's a solid foundation. I braced and bolted the posts together as well and it doesn't move. The shed manufacture provided the load data and I sized the pads from the footing pad manufacturer's site. What are you building?

Nick...here's a pic after I placed and tamped the limestone, then set the pad. I dropped in the 4" x 6", then centered the pad and did the final set, followed by the backfill.

I'm thinking maybe you are the guy for my "deck-in-the-woods" project next spring. I think there's only about 6" of dirt over the rocks so shouldn't be too difficult.
Re: Backyard shed/structure
I need a status update on this project. With pics please.

Here you go Nick...a (1/2) day in the life of a shed. These three fellows worked so well together...it was a pleasure to watch. Pulled in the driveway at 8:20am and the Benjamins exchanged hands at 12:40pm. Now I need to get my painting tools back out and take advantage of the nice weather this weekend. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the investment and the intended use of the structure. Coming next...overbuilt ramp.

Jorn...I now get to keep the spare garage bay just for the bikes, but I’m trying to think how I can sneak a 2008 Porsche (poor man’s) Cayman that a neighbor has for sale, while telling Mrs. RW that I’m just holding it for him until life settles down.

Let her drive it.

I trimmed our old magnolia last evening, so that the view from the patio and kitchen was improved...going with PPG’s Deep Rust (from Frank Lloyd Wright‘s Taliesen West palette) as it seems to compliment the brick on our home very well.
Re: Backyard shed/structure
I'd go with that Wright Mustard myself. A spot of sun in the garden.
White trim is probably safest.
