With today's news of Gary Brooker (singer/keyboard player for Procul Harum) passing away I got sucked into the youtube rabbit hole of Gary's work when he toured with Ringo's All Starr Band circa 1998...which then led me to this jaw-droppingly head-exploding version of "White Room"

I don't think I've made as many stanky bass-faces while listening to a tune as I did today in 30 years. Ho. Lee. Chit. Jack Bruce and Peter Frampton tearing it up, ably supported by Gary, Ringo, Simon Kirke on drums, and Mark Rivera on synthesizer. I'm gobsmacked.
Lots of Mark Lanegan.

I’m going to give this a listen when I’m done with my all day video conference. Btw, I learned there’s a harpist Avashai Cohen. The three need to get together and make an album. 😂
Avishai, that is.
Spoon's latest album.
Was on a Cranberries kick recently, then 10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant (which led to KT Tunstall.)
Now I’m deep into the YouTube wormhole on concert vids of Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, and Emmylou.
Vintage 1977 Modern Lovers, “pablo picaso” and “road runner”…….classics!
1972, to be precise!
Which reminds me to put in a plug to watch (if you have not) Todd Haynes' Velvet Underground documentary. JR shows up to help explain their genius.

Someone on another cycling forum -- bikeforums.net of all places, which I consider 180° antipodal to the VSalon in terms of the maturity and comprehensiveness of the discourse -- turned me on to this Swiss band Sonar just the other day, and I've really been digging everything I've heard so far. They're like the intersection set of Don Caballaro and 1980s-era King Crimson, with a little bit of Steve Reich thrown in.

When I hear it on the radio I always think it is a new Boards of Canada tune until she starts singing in french about that drunk guy.

Snarky Puppy feat. Malika Tirolien - I'm Not The One (Family Dinner - Volume One)
I'm not knowledgable about jazz, but I can appreciate the talent. Wow, what a voice.

9tubes, that's just some good funk.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. I got lost a bit in their You Tube stuff. Would have been very cool to have been sitting in the room when this went off.

Don't You Know from Family Dinner Vol 2. This one's my favorite from Snarky Puppy, beyond amazing how on top of it they are with so many musicians.
