and speaking of songwriters... this is older but if you have never heard or read this I think it is a great take on songwriting fro Nick Cave. It is from a lecture he did on the love song.

The Houston Bro's. - The Houston Brothers
Here's one that I've been into for about a year and a half. Not something I would normally listen to, but I really like it.
The Slew - 100% It's Kid Koala (a DJ - music creator) and the rhythm section from Wolfmother.
You can download the album at The Slew » Full Slew Album Download The album has an interesting story. There was a documentary about a rare blues rock group from Seattle (I think) named The Slew. The documentary was never finished but Kid Koala got ahold of their recordings and made an album out of mixing it up. They have a full concert on their website (all in YouTube videos).

Speaking of Nick
Saw his most recent band Grinderman at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta Thursday night.
Sample from "Later with Jools Holland" (which BTW is a great venue for music)

Sweet Thing. Debut album was released earlier this fall, saw them last weekend when they opened for Metric here in Victoria. They are p. much the definition of hipster, but they put on one hell of a live performance. They are definitely a little bit of "indie-pop", but I can definitely see them being on the radio all the time, 6 months from now.

Also, for those of you on a Girl Talk kick right now, here is something similar. The Hood Internet.
