I have really been enjoying the darker variations and was curious if anyone has a favorite or two that I could look for to enjoy during the weekend.
Thanks

Try Ommegang, the original brew.
I prefer their Hennepin which is much lighter.
I never met a Belgian beer I didn't like.
I'll keep looking though. :beerglass::cheers::beerglass:
chimay blue
affligem (sp?)
Sounds like you want to be looking for Belgian Brown Ales, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale or a Dubbel. (Tripels, by the way are ligheter in color and typically "stronger" in flavor)
Some good choices would be:
Ommegang (as already mentioned)
Westmalle Trappiste Dubbel
Trappiste Rochefort 6 or 8
St. Bernardus Pater 6
St. Bernardus Prior 8
Now I'm thirsty!
+1 westmalle
Petrus
Callewaerts
Or try to find some of the winter beers. Some of the brewers tend to get a little darker for their Christmas brews. Be aware that those can be as deadly as they are delicious.
and now I'm all the sudden thirsty.
Gotta try Rochefort 10
flemish for wifebeater........
Duvel.
Some of the domestic microwbreweries are making beers in the belgian style that I think are better than some belgian brews.

long trail double bag is a satisfying double.
But go for authentic belgian- corsendonk, abbey brown ale.

I drank a magnum after defending my dissertation, then made the bottle into a lamp on my office desk.

Belgian motivation...
I haven't heard of that place and will have to check it out. More little pubs opening here by the minute. Ended up with a bottle of this stuff, it was given to me buy a friend !
Shino were riding tomorrow after the tour.....meeting at the DT store for a 60 miler. you should show up.

Niner o'clock for the ride !
I'm half in the gutter right now

Oh, that sounds hard. I am starting to climb pretty well though. I felt good today.
Sorry, I was never good at reading comprehension...
If you want dark, then try Nostradamus by the Caracole brewery.

The Rochefort 10 is delicious. If you ever have a chance to visit Belgium, check out Westvletteren monastery... no labels, just colored bottle caps to indicate alcohol content, unfortunately not available stateside. Orval is quite nice too.
Domestic beers... Victory Golden Monkey is pretty tasty.
That's the good stuff, yo
Westies, eh? That's a brew allright! I've been told that the special edition St Bernardus Abt 12 is a clone? I've never had the two at the same time to compare, but they are close.
I saw a southern tier 22 this evening that intrigued me... something about Crème brûlée ale???! Must get it tomorrow.
