Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I know its Monday and I could be grumpy.... I was up late working on my new tandem frame and came back here after some time away from the thing called the internet and social media. I love places like VS. I became a donating member because its just RAD.
I bought a new "old" car that I tinker with because that has always been my interest and hobby but the discussion board for it is just a toxic place. It really makes you appreciate what some other places are and provide.
Pump it out this week, VS.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
It's Friday and in a few hours I'm leaving on a road trip to South Texas. The Boy has a leadership retreat 5 hours from here so I'm dropping him off and heading south to Fredericksburg for tonight and tomorrow night. I've ridden in Fburg a bunch of times so I know exactly where I'm going from the hotel parking lot. It's supposed to be 80 tomorrow afternoon. Not super excited to drive 6 hours this afternoon, but it's a scenic drive through the hill country.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Right hooked by a Mini on the morning commute, but I'm turning it into a positive:
My bike is fine
I didn't go down
The thigh bruise will go away
The driver ran off but I'm hoping I broke his side mirror (he wasn't using it anyway)
... and it's Friday

My 5 year old grandson visited the job site today. Grams got him a hard hat and vest. When we got done he said this was " A best day ever". I wish he could stay small forever.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
^^^ nice! Today is the last snowboard lesson this year for my 12-year-old. Last lesson didn't go so well--asthma attack. Hoping to get my first day on snow with her in the next few weeks; maybe treats and watching Dad fall down will convince her to stick with snow sports.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
In my work, with international programs in Africa and Central Asia, so many friends, partners and colleagues are in total dismay and confusion when they see the news about post-election America, our good will social capital is definitely taking a noticeable hit. However, overheard in an international conference call today "you definitely need this to be managed by one of the Americans, they can turn (failing project) around, trust them".
Maybe not entirely deserved, but f**k yeah, I'll take it.

The kid (she's 20 so not really a kid anymore) had ACL surgery and she didn't need a Percocet today.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Twice this week I left work at noon to watch spring training games. Ballpark food, cool breezes, good friend sitting next to me. 4 innings is enough for now and then back to the jobsite to close up at 4;00. Third base line, 2nd row company ducats.
Life is indeed good.

I am trying really hard not to put a deposit down for a rock lobster.
I live a life of such incredible excess. Royalty 150 years ago couldn't dream of how we live now.

Don't do it!
Ok, now that we got that responsible bit of advice out of the way, you should totally do it. Paul's great to work with.

It's Irish music day in my house...
The Irish Rover courtesy of the Clancy Brothers with Tommy Makem
Irish Rover - Clancy Brothers And Tommy Makem - YouTube
In the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and six,
We set sail from the Coal Quay of Cork
We were sailing away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand City Hall in New York
We'd an elegant craft, it was rigged 'fore and aft
And how the trade winds drove her
She had twenty-three masts and she stood several blasts
And they called her the Irish Rover
There was Barney Magee from the banks of the Lee
There was Hogan from County Tyrone
There was Johnny McGurk who was scared stiff of work
And a chap from Westmeath named Malone
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as a rule
And fighting Bill Tracy from Dover
And your man Mick McCann, from the banks of the Bann
Was the skipper on the Irish Rover
We had one million bags of the best Sligo rags
We had two million barrells of bone
We had three million bales of old nanny goats' tails
We had four million barrells of stone
We had five million hogs and six million dogs
And seven million barrells of porter
We had eight million sides of old blind horses' hides
In the hold of the Irish Rover
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And our ship lost her way in a fog
And the whole of the crew was reduced down to two
'Twas myself and the captain's old dog
Then the ship struck a rock, oh, Lord what a shock
And nearly tumbled over
Turned nine times around then the poor old dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Irish Rover

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Flashback to Feb.
I lost a Magpul zippered case (these are sweet, BTW) - containing assorted Apple connectors and adaptors ($), a lacie portable HDD ($$) and a Lupine Pico flashlight ($$$).
I've turned my suitcase, briefcase, office, house, and car inside out to find this stuff.
Today I applied Sherlock's maxim: "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth" - I last saw the bag in Kansas City, so I emailed over to my contact.
Not 10 minutes later I received a reply: "Security has your stuff - how did you know it was here?"
It's been at least 6 weeks.
Incredible.
Not waiting for Friday to post.

Thursday's grumps should wait until Thursday.
Good news is welcome any day of the week!

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
After my fender bender earlier this week, I was down in the dumps cause I still didn't have her insurance info yesterday (see the grumps thread), but I just got her insurance info so now it is off to talk to insurance and hopefully start the process of getting my car fixed!
