Remind me to tell you about the time my dad shot that pass in the dark, in a 24-foot Sea Ray, with my brother and I shining dive lights on the water to spot the hazards.

Nothing special about the pic(there've been a lot of great ones here lately!) but interesting as I've never had poppies in my front yard(or seen anywhere) sprout and bloom this late, more yellow than orange as is typical, pic is from 8/3.

rainbow scarab. Male has a rhino horn. This is a female. Part of the dung beetle family. Beneficial native insect. I let it go in our compost and it disappeared into some rotten cabbage.

Really beautiful plumage on those two. The blue eye is unreal. And that beak - there really isn’t another bird family with a beak shape like that. Similar to some South American tanagers but that beak seems unique to Bower birds.

Single color or multi-colored? I'm hoping for the latter :)
Pressure-treated so they won’t get colored for a while. And then they might get stained, but that’s tough to do in more than one color without disassembly. The seats and backs are 1x10 knotless pine board, so those could get painted. More likely that they will get coated with Thomson’s Water Seal.
