But the multi-layered and very complicated relationships were still there, and the way each relationship mirrors elements of the central theme without anything ever being perfectly resolved is still well done. The actors who play Beth and Dan are excellent together - Dan particularly as he slowly comes apart at the seams - and of course, the two detectives are great. But even with spotty writing, the series still puts the stomach in knots and there is a big exhale at the end of each episode.
Thanks for this. I didn't know there was a season 3. Now four episodes in. The formula from seasons 1 and 2 seems pretty much the same. Good thing I like it.
Peaky Blinders is on pause until I get through this one.

Godless is very very good. Shane crossed w/ other classics i have not catch yet. Intensely poetic w/ plenty of drive and violence. Jeff Daniels should get an award or something: monster acting.
Beautifull cinematography.
Writtem and directed by one guy! Thatīs very hard to do on a series. .

Very good. Loved it.

I watched the Godless finale last night. So beautiful. I'm feeling a bit empty now and will need something to replace it. Seriously thinking about learning to horse ride next year.

Point of order. There was actual horsemanship. I REALLY appreciate seeing that vs publicly abusing a gentle animal for sport @#$% that.

Re: Binge Watching Series Recommendations
There is a brutal mining company gang, brutal dangerous buffalo soldiers and ttīs the fragile women who kill 30 of the most dangerous and evil of all the bad guys in the story. Itīs politically corrrect and yet it is still hillarious, poetic and fun. A bit like Pulp Fiction w/ evil drug lord Marcellus being f$%& in the end by those shop keepers.
This writer director Scott FRank is brilliant and the heir of Quentin Tarantino. He is dealing w/classic film material. There is Shane and also a Billy Wilder movie about miners trapped and exploited by a scumbag journalist . There is High Noon. He plays jokes on these classics but his taste impeccable. He is inspired, spiritually driven.
Re: Binge Watching Series Recommendations
Search Party on TBS (streaming online only I think). They really nail the millennial stereotype.

You have a weird concept of horsemanship.

What I have learned over the last couple of years is that without question the majority of the best TV is not made in North America so the majority of it requires subtitles.
It's like the old days, you actually watch the TV show.

I saw western saddle riders posting. Riders who were taught the basics blah blah blah. I really object seeing actors plopped onto of horses and yanking on the reins, flopping around on their horses backs. Heck a few of the actors actually knew how to ride. Imagine that? My derragatory reference was for Moore who flogged his horse infront of cameras while planting his heels in a vain attempt to get the horse to rear. THAT was awful.
Re: Binge Watching Series Recommendations
Has anyone mentioned Ray Donovan on Netflix yet? What a great study in characters. Jon Voight nearly steals the series.
Re: Binge Watching Series Recommendations
We just wrapped up Stranger Things which was ok but I'm not that much into scifi... Randomly searched for something else and Ozark caught my eye. Somewhat local setting, the first two episodes (first was a bit slower developing plot and characters) get right into it and we're hooked. Some stereotypical south central Missouri hick scenes, but Bateman plays his character very well.
