Spotted on my coffee cup yesterday...3 good rules to follow.
So my macchina is toast due to calcification. Hard water here and apparently a Brita doesn't cut it when it comes to getting the minerals out. Short of full-blown home filtration systems, what are people doing to ensure their water doesn't ruin their espresso machine internals?
Cool video series on using a bottomless portafilter to gauge your technique.

Folks, is there such a thing as good tasting decaf? I love me some coffee/espresso during the work day but I'm finding that it's making me a bit too jittery.
I always thought that dark roast had less caffeine than medium or light roast but apparently that's not the case. So with that in mind, I prefer a medium to light roast.
3, 2, 1, GO!
I'm thirsty just looking at the pics...

London busses to be powered by biodiesel with a coffee waste oil additive...this is not your Mum’s carmel macchiato that’s for sure.

Oh wow. When the Georgetown U campus shuttle bus whizzes by it used to smell like french fries. Will this bus smell like espresso. The bus will boast a trail of YUPPIES in shatters.

I didn't know where to post this but here I go. Don't judge me for the shortcomings of my in-laws and SO...they love the flavors. I've found these to be excellent in this case and these are often offered at 20-25% off. Don't use the prescribed amount or they'll choke...1/3 will do nicely.
Rw, you have so much gastro good will banked at this place that you could post pictures of Taco Bell and you’d still have plenty of cred.
^ thanks M...I'm just trying to keep our small and demanding group of coffee perfectionists grounded as it's good to remind ourselves how the 99% ers enjoy their java. "Say no to syrup" and go with the powder if one has to flavor the drink, is what I tell my in-laws.
He is incorrigible Larry don't encourage R.W. ;)
OK ok I'm staring at a box from Sweet Maria's that has several 1 lb bags of beans that looked interesting AND two lbs of awesomenes from Manahole. After New Years I'm going to be busy.
And well caffeinated.
I can’t speak to how it may or may not affect your machine, but my tap water goes into my Big Berkey and from there I use it for drinking, cooking, coffe brewing, etc.

I love the quote at the end of the clip..."Espresso is the only coffee that we believe in."
