one of our original riders, and constant supporter, passed away following a car accident yesterday (Thursday). we got word of her being in a bad car accident around 7pm. i found 1 news station reporting that the person in the car had passed away, and that was an update at 7:46pm. it wasn't until a few hours later that we got actual confirmation from the hospital. 4yrs ago to the day she won her first race.

After the last few posts I'm kind of hesitant to add my content but it's 72 degrees, flat calm and foggy out. I'm sitting here after being up all night for work with a splitting headache because the diagnostic utility supplied by the vendor tech support to catch whatever it was that bombed one of our production systems a week or so ago is what bombed one of our production system in the middle of yesterday afternoon. It seems to have a problem with some timing windows in the new OS release. So here I sit with a freaking migraine and no chance of getting on the bike today. For various reasons I can't take time off tomorrow to go for a long ride, which in my current frame of mind is the thing I need the most.

First off, sorry for your loss, Dustin.

We're entering the hot part of the year. This weekend will be close to 110 degrees on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We're at 4000 feet, Phoenix will be hotter. We'll go to Grand Canyon NP early Saturday morning, it will be much cooler up there.

The time with my son ends on Monday night. He's been here since early May doing online classes, working out, and getting a tan. He'll fly out of Vegas early on Tuesday morning and has to report back to Annapolis on Wednesday. So many unknowns at this point about when I'll get to see him again. I was going to the Army-Navy game this year, I expect it to be canceled. This year sucks, but I'm thankful that no close family members have been affected.

Got rousted out of bed at 6am this morning to help my wife write a letter to her boss who after 14 years of service thinks it's time to start treating her like shit.

I've looked at 4 magazines this week (wife works at a doctors office) and every one of them has a story about some whining New Yorker in self exile in their Upstate cottage wringing their hands about whether or not they should return and how they will protect their precious children.
I have no problem if someone has a house in the country and wants to escape the city during this difficult time. I used to have one myself. I would have done the same thing. But we who are here living here in the shit don't give a damm about your "suffering".
How about interviewing the family with 3 kids 2 floors down from me who haven't been out of their apartment in 4 months.
Oh but I forget you can't have the page at the end of the article with the pictures of the $2500.00 end tables from the writhing cottage.

The neighbor's mow, blow, and go crew just blew their lawn clippings under my fence and left. At least I was oblivious because I'm working with my ears full of Cowboy Junkies, but still.

My daughter wants me to take her to a new apartment near college (Goucher) in Maryland, but as a resident of NY there is a mandatory 14 day self-quarantine if I go there and I guess if I were to go there and stay overnight and come back to my home with my wife in it then she is supposed to do it too and this is not gonna work.

I have one at home from college indefinitely also and he is disappointed like everyone else.
And he has been working hard (construction) to save money to travel abroad and that looks tough now too.

I believe that the colleges that are acting like everything will be hunky dory in terms of residential life and the campus experience, are misleading kids and that they will eventually end up sending kids home again, just like they did in the Spring. Our youngest is getting ready to start his third year and his semester is loaded with electrical, mechanical and robotics labs. I cannot imagine how this is going to work and since he's off campus, he and his three roommates are committed to a lease, so no respite there if all classes go online. First world problem I know and I really feel badly for the for the incoming freshman...they were essentially denied most of their last semester of high school and their introduction to college will be via ZOOM.
