Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)

My metric tape measure finally broke. I've had it since the days when we were on track to become a metric standard nation. It's not impossible to find another, but this one was the perfect size to fit in a pocket and yet still have numbers and divisions large enough for eyes beyond the half century mark.

Double grump. I got a flat just under a mile from home. And in process of replacing the the tube and inspecting the tire I noticed a bunch of deep cuts and some tread peeling from the casing on my Vittoria Corsa G+. I'm going to say these tires do not live up to the hype. The tread is barely worn and I'll already need to toss the rear.

Couple days ago, wifey and boss lady were having a heart to heart. Wife told boss lady that I'm getting pretty discouraged that the raise I was promised 6mos ago has yet to happen, meanwhile folks are getting paid trips to Vegas, others are getting new vehicles, others are getting $50k raises (seriously...it was shocking, to the say the least), etc. Also let her know that I'm soon to start looking for new jobs, because as it is, I make more money working on bikes, and get zero benefits here.

So yesterday was payday. Wife gets a fat bonus. FAT. 2nd time this year. I got nada. My first response was "are you fucking kidding me", shocked by the random $$$ and awed by the fact that....and here's my point...

Boss lady knows I'm frustrated, and had an easy way to remedy the situation. Hell, could've helped with getting taxed, as well...just split the bonus. But she didn't. It's hard for me to ignore what I see as writing on the wall. I'm very grateful for the funds, but, where's my god damn raise.

Cherry on top - the lady I trained to take over my position got a $3 raise.

Total number of days that everyone in my house has been healthy at the same time since September 1 – ZERO.

Also, used car shopping sucks.

My commute to work involves riding through a gated neighborhood. I think they're installing locks on the gates.

and oh yeah, my aunt is being shipped off to rehab today. counselor called my mom last night at 8pm and was like "you really should go stay with her, she might attempt suicide."

I worked from home yesterday and was going to get in a much needed ride and instead my back seized up.

You should have let me know. I would have come over with my wonky back for a session of commiseration. That and now I have an infection in my crashed-upon elbow. A 10-day course of antibiotics, here I come.

I just tacked up my entire front triangle in the fixture without having snugged down the effing seat tube holder...looks like I get to start that over...woohoo

I'm late, I'll do pushups. Today I need to make the call to have my dog euthanized. Cancer, it's a no-brainer really, just can't bring myself to dial the number.

So sorry, Chad. I did that 4 weeks ago and may have to again in the next few. It's rough for sure...so hang in there.

I've been tight lipped about some shit wifey and I have been going through since February...pretty close to being done. But the boys' biological father couldn't just go out easy. We just found out that that he is moving, again. And while we don't have to follow, we have no choice, really, but to move into the school district the boys are in currently if they are to get stay in their current schools. We have been here 4yrs and this is their 3rd school. We can't let him fuck up the boys, again. So, looks like, after only 2.5 years in our current house, we will be leaving. New fence, new paint, garage shop set up...all fucking gone.

oh, just fucking kidding. i go to pick up the oldest, who was home sick, and no one is home. the youngest tells me that his dad already moved! Let me quote the email received at noon today from his lawyer: "They will be moving"

They moved over the weekend.

Re-engaging with the neighbors over their parking situation. They're on our property and believe they have an easement to be there. We do not share this belief, living as we do in the reality-based community.

We sat down last night, and confirmed the disagreement. I'm afraid the next stop involves lawyers.

I'm tired and hungover today. I have about 50 grant applications to process...

...but I saw Blackberry Smoke live last night and it was worth every bit of today's suffering. Keep rocking my friends.

Why confuse a good story with facts?

Frequent misspelling of "recommendation" in thread titles.....

A close friend, who has been battling Cancer for 8 years as she tried to live long enough to see her twin girls finish High School, passed this morning. Her girls are approaching their 14th birthday. I'm sad at her passing, but I am happy that her suffering is over.

I have never seen anyone fight so tenaciously, with so much grace. Her quiet courage and bright spirit in spite of ever increasing chronic pain, a high thigh leg amputation and repeated high toxicity chemo gave me a view of what we humans are capable of. Her bright light was extinguished early this morning, but I look around at those she touched and I see that light within them. That is consoling.

Perspective is a wonderful, though oft-times painful, thing. Hug those you love. GodSpeed Karen.
